Is there a way to have zounds muted for more than one level? I still have a few people that don't want to hear them at all. They have bound a key to turn them off...but gets old level after level...something like the hitsounds setting from ut2vote? Or was this added in 47?

(i know..don't compare ut2vote to zounds.. :) )

Zound has one of the most secure BroadcastHandlers out there and has been tested over and over with other mods.
UStats and other stats and logging programs have actually incorporated the Zound BroadcastHandler into their mods.
I personally wrote the BroadcastHandler for OverLoad and his UStats or whatever its called so please make 100% sure before you make a statement like that as it could cause utter choas out there if I have a bug in a BroadcastHandler that many other mods also use.
Zound46 and before had its BroadcastHandler broken and thats probably why it works for this guys as he is using a non standard mod that has a broken BroadcastHandler and thats why it works for him because Zound46 also has a broken BroadcastHandler.

The BroadcastHandler btw, is the main Chat class for all chatting and communications that take place during a UT2004 game.

*** Edit ***

Ok just studying the code for the BroadcastHandler I see Epic made MAJOR changes to it in Patch 3339 to the point that it will break all current BroadcastHandler code out there, probably the reason why everyone is complaining on the forums about chatlogs not working.
Zound47 is the only mod that has adhered to the latest requirements from Epic as they have tried addressing this major mismatch we have regarding the BroadcastHandler through all the various mods that use this class.
Obviously its a little to late and is causing chaos.

In Zound48B2 I will try and make the best of both worlds by incorporating the latest requirements for the BroadcastHandler as well as trying to make a loophole for older mods.
Exactly how I'm going to do this is anyone's guess but ask your friend to stick around and try the next beta (when its done).

Frogger, other than adding a ClientClass to Zounds, this is the only way I can to it atm.
Surely its not such a problem to press the key he bound once at the beginning of each level ?
Remember he must only press the key once he is alive, if he's doing it right at the beginning before he spawns then it wont work.

Ben, this admin of mine isn't some hack, and I certainly wouldn't have posted that if I didn't think it to be true. I personally don't use zounds on any of my own admined servers, but I have three admins that do use them. They never got 47 to work properly, but because of time contstraints, abandoned trying to get them going. We do use UAdminModv095b, but we turn off the chat filtering with that as previously we found that it broke Zounds. We are using the chat logging through UT2Vote...which brings up another question that I'll pose in a different thread so as to not drift off topic.

Damn this forum, often I submit a post and it takes so long I get a Gateway Timeout and loose the post and I have to start typing all over again.

Ok for a starters UAdminModv095b's BroadcastHandler is most certainly not patch 3339 compatible, damn why do Epic do this.
Anyway in Beta 2 I have managed (more or less) to make the BroadcastHandler work for both the old and the new, it just needs testing now.

bring it on....

on the On/Off...the ones that are complaining are the ones that complain about everything....so i wouldn't waste too much time on them..

On chat log/filter..i still have no issues running uadminmod chat logging..v3339+Zound46

The secret there is Zound46.
Try Zound47 and see if you get the same results :)
Anyways Zound48 will be a cross between 46 and 47 and should make everyone happy ;)
bring it on....
I will try my best for tonight as its at a point I need it tested and no doubt it will have many bugs but thats what we need to find.

Zound48 Beta 2

Ok, its done and there is no need to make a writeup as you know how things work.
The download includes the latest ZoundConvert so its bigger than usual.

Beta 2 also has the new BroadcastHandler which should see whether another mod is using the new or old handlers and adjust accordingly.

http://www.unreal.co.za/files/beta/z48b2.zip

Thanks ;)

*** Edit ***
Oh I almost forgot.
Please when you test this Zound and test the BroadcastHandler for chats etc, either remove UT2Vote49 or use UT2Vote48 if at all possible, because UT2Vote49 uses th same Broadcasthandler that Zound47 uses and it may show up as false positives.

Umm...if Zounds is adjusting to the old or new handle, shouldn't it adjust to UT2Vote too;) Or am I, like usual, turning this around on itself? (where's the confused simley?)

Ok, one day not in the forum and already so much to read ... I am a bit confused.

I have read through the whole thread, read also readmes and then that :

Is there a way to have zounds muted for more than one level?

I did not even know that his is possible ... honest ..
Is the option in UT2Vote meant ? I did not even know that this is meant for Zound.. Or is there another option which can be triggert by each client via console ? Serious, I did not really find anything *Mmmm...*

Ok, ut regarding the 2nd Beta :

Just to be absolutely sure :

Code:
[Zound48B2.ZTriggers]
Zounds=(Soundname="newgame",Triggername="newgame",SoundFilename="",Hidden=True,AdminOnly=False)
Zounds=(Soundname="midgame",Triggername="midgame",SoundFilename="",Hidden=True,AdminOnly=False)
Zounds=(Soundname="endgame",Triggername="endgame",SoundFilename="",Hidden=True,AdminOnly=False)
Zounds=(Soundname="hello",Triggername="hello",SoundFilename="",Hidden=True,AdminOnly=False)
Zounds=(Soundname="byebye",Triggername="byebye",SoundFilename="",Hidden=True,AdminOnly=False)

Soundname="midgame"
Means that it can have ANY name ? Just for me to habe a better summary in the ini ?

Triggername="byebye"
Ok, the actually trigger, I understand

SoundFilename=""
That the name within the uax of the wav

Hidden=True
Hidden from the list, but everyone can trigger it when triggerword known ..

AdminOnly=False
Only when logged in as admin can trigger it ? So if I want to trigger the sound, I need to login, trigger, and logoff again ?

Sorry, I hope I haven't missed the actuall explanation in this thread, it is quite huge already :) :) :)

that all looks right utw-Mephisto.

clients can type 'mutate zound off' in console to disable zounds for that level.

never been a fan of post count...just trying to help and have fun..

it would be a good idea to add that to the documentation. I have that as one of my Uadmin messages..."Don't want to hear zounds? Type 'mutate zound off' in console"

Yes, Zound should adjust to UT2Votes handle, but from there onwards the handle will be lost :)
Mephisto, you are correct about the meanings of all the options except AdminOnly which atm does not really do anything as Frogger just gave it as an option but never said what it should do so all it does atm is display ALL the triggers to the Admin including the Hidden=True ones etc.

AdminOnly to me is only one logged in as Admin can trigger it..

i've tested new zondconvert at this point... with 46 & 47. I like the dialog box

both versions added an extra entry at bottom:
Zounds=(Soundname="Zound47",Triggername="Zound47",SoundFilename="madsoundsVI",Hidden=False,AdminOnly=False)

more soon hopefully..

Does it do this with any other Zound versions as I have made a major change with this Beta when the game starts up as thats when it sets the BroadcastHandler to what it thinks it should be to satisfy its nearest rival so to speak.
There should be a "Critical" section at the end of the log on any crash and thats all I need to see what caused the crash.

okay...have tried a few things..no luck.to get rid of one question..is this right? I first had changed the soundname to be the soundfilname...tried this way also..not exactly sure which way is correct..

Code:
Zounds=(Soundname="newgame",Triggername="getil",SoundFilename="madsoundsIV",Hidden=True,AdminOnly=False)
Zounds=(Soundname="midgame",Triggername="beer",SoundFilename="madsoundsIV",Hidden=True,AdminOnly=False)
Zounds=(Soundname="endgame",Triggername="jeopardy",SoundFilename="madsoundsIV",Hidden=True,AdminOnly=False)
Zounds=(Soundname="hello",Triggername="hello",SoundFilename="madsoundsIV",Hidden=True,AdminOnly=False)
Zounds=(Soundname="byebye",Triggername="byebye",SoundFilename="madsoundsIV",Hidden=True,AdminOnly=False)

anyone help me see why i am not getting a crash log here?

Code:
ucc server DM-Rankin?game=XGame.xDeathMatch?mutator=UT2Vote44.UT2Vote?ini=ribservers.ini multihome=38.113.137.87 log=1400.log copy server.log servercrash.log goto 10
