Once in awhile it feels good to go over the top. Landing on the other side maybe a problem.

Anyways since this is a yurch thread. Are you planining to work on the new fortitude game type in the near future or are you looking for input for later reference. Thought I would ask here since the other thread seems to be for usefull ideas which of course I have none.

Later... 2.9. Doesn't mean I can't hash out the algorithms for the various procedures though.

I found a website that said the psg1 has a built in range finder. Yurch, can you put this into rav3 plz?

(it will be useful with the new ballistics and big maps).
That depends on what this 'range finder' is. It could very well be the lines on the scope.

From HKPro:
For optics, the PSG1 uses a permanently mounted Hensoldt 6 x 42 with lighted ranging reticle for distances to 600 m.

There's a nifty featurette on Ol' Painless on the 2 disk special edition version. Apparently the prop was powered by eight odd truck batteries.

You know that scene where he's hosing down the jungle? Each bit of tree that falls off or explodes has it's own squib. It took them like four hours to set up for each take.

This thread has been running for over 2 years

Shaddup. Don't jinx it.

Also, IIRC, didn't the stunt man also suffer some minor cuts and burns along the chest and face when they first fired it up? They hadn't expected it to eject the cases from the top of the weapon with such force. Not sure if it's legend or not but I seem to remember reading it some place. That and the thing was actually mounted on a pole that they had to cover up some how, want to say they rigged his pant leg to cover it up....or was that the battery cables?

Streaks - who loves the concept of the man portable minigun ;)

The people firing it (including the actors themselves) wore body armour and face masks to protect them from that. Maybe someone got cut before they figured that out.

The making of... said the cable attached to the bottom of the minigun. Dunno about pant-leg, although that's fairly plausible.

It was actually hand held. Jesse Ventura reckoned it was like "shooting a chain-saw" although he also said it wasn't as bad as everyone said (showing off just cuz he's like eight feet tall).

It's just so cool on screen. Totally ludicrous, but amazing to watch.

Yup I agree, pretty snazzy. I think it's great that it was that much of a handfull......shooting blanks!

IIRC, when in combat trim, it generates something like 600lbs of felt recoil as it's being fired

Yurch, i discovered something with rav2 i don't quite understand.
I added unreal cows in a map and gave them about 900 health. Then i started shooting them one by one always with the same weapon (the M16, i didn't try any other weapon). The weird thing i noticed is that it doesn't always take the same amount of shots to kill them, sometimes it was 9, sometimes 12 ; it varied each time. And no, i did not miss any shots (i do not suck to the point of missing a cow 2 meters away). I tried without ra and it didn't happen : it took always the same number of shots to kill a cow. Can you explain ? Sorry if it has been addressed before but i'm not reading this entire thread to find out...

And in case anyone asks why i wanted to shoot cows in the first place : i'm waiting for 2.9

It is an easy mistake to make. You simply loaded Cow2.7 rather than Cow1.0. Cow2.7 has new features including light, subdermal armor plating to help fend off those pesky farmer's kids who take to plinking Cow from long ranges. Note that Cow2.7 also includes automatic stability retracts concealed(sp) in every other black dot. This enables Cow2.7 to avoid being "tipped" late at night.

Please use caution when approaching Cow2.7 as if direct contact is made, it might explode.

That is all.

Yeah. Yurchian damage is pseudo-random, based on distance, and some other stuff. I think he added a very slim posibility of an instant kill with any weapon, too. But I think the big thing is distance.

If it's based on distance it doesn't work that well, because my distance to the target was always ranging from ~2 to ~4 meters, no more, and i noticed a difference up to 4 shots to kill a damn cow.
