UT2007 Page Updated

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. Anuban - Raptor didn't take the news to the Epic boards in the first place, you did. So, if the thread over there needs clarification, you should probably be the one who quotes what Raptor said.

But he reported here and this is a very well respected site ... so if anyone needs to clear up anything it is him imo. I just wanted the facts and at the official Epic site I got a different answer and I think that the offical site is the one that should be followed first.

True but your statement is a confirmation. My point is that you shouldn't confirm anything before Epic does at E3 because if for any reason you are wrong it damages BUs credibility.

I wouldn't have posted that or changed the name of the forum if I wasn't 100% sure that the new name and logo were legit. Here are a few reasons why:

- GameWallpapers obviously has friends in high places. They often come across high-res game art and screenshots that never appear on other sites. That's key to their success.
- The shots are obviously images of the next UT. After scoring an exclusive like that, why taint it with a fake logo/name?
- The logo is a professional quality image, and similar in style to the UT2003/4 logos.
- A Midway rep as confirmed the name, as well as the fact that it'll appear at E3 and ship in 2006 -- link

Yes, he posted it here, on a well respected site, and then clarified it here, where he posted.

You chose to take it elsewhere. You can't stir the post somewhere and then demand someone else to clean your mess.

You say that you "have your opinion and stand by it." I respect that, but if your opinion is then countered, you should then take responsibility to clarify.

I've just contacted Tim DaRosa from Midway and he says that "Unreal Tournament 2007" is confirmed as the official name for the title.

Hopefully this should bring this rather pointless discussion to an end.

Hmm i dont care much about then name BUT, naming it anything other than UT2007 would (in my eyes) give me more hopes of Epic starting over and redoing EVERYTHING from player scale to clan support and whatever.

I did clarify it as far as I am concerned ... but hey stand by your source .. I do the same thing with my XBox MS Mktg rep and what he tells me so in a way I understand.

Now it is ... and I don't believe it was ever pointless and I am sorry you feel that way .. I will post this over on Epic now .. I did start that thread so I will end it with that ... I appreciate your confirmation as I am sure the entire Epic community will. :)

I think that's a valid point, Wowbagger. If you liked UT, but not the 2x series, you might take notice at a title with a different naming scheme. At the same time, if you liked the 2x series, you probably wouldn't care what they called it.

A new name would seem to fit with the "back to our roots" comments that have surfaced from the team.

I like the naming scheme...

Let's face it, no 1 game in a decent series is going to be a dead end. Why give it a dead end stand-alone name? If UT2007 does well, there will probably be another UT20XX later on down the road. The sequential system makes sense. Ever since Wing Commander V became "Prophecy", naming systems have just become retarded ways of marketing games as newer and better. Make no illusions that this is just another version, albeit a very very nice one! ;)

As far as making Unreal look too outlandish or cheesy... BAH! Unreal is one of the only franchises out there with the balls to venture out of the blah world of realism. Make them as goofy as you want Epic! I don't even care if the game universe defies plausability. Being able to battle in the middle of asteroid fields and ancient Japanese fortresses in the same game with out of this world weapons while dodging off of the walls and sniping in mid-air is what makes UT so attractive! Plot can go date an RPG or hide in a book for all I care as long as the game is pretty, fun, and balanced!
