Personaly i think this could all be solved

make a thread on the forum with this muttie to download
Ask all serverS running this mod to set a password....for example "TS"
Then only those who have seen the thread and read that its not PURE Iniltration will be able to join the server ..thus making sure no noobs join that server and think it is Pure Infiltration
The servers running TS would then get only players who actually know what TS is and actually want to play it

Also noobs who Dont know about editing their Ini setting up Keybinds gunsight | onrelease gunsight would not be at a disadvantage to the experianced players who do

It seems quite simple .. Password the servers running this muttie and it will Stop Noobs from joining without reading the forums and being aware its Not Pure Inf
Or as an alternative maybe dont let the server auto upload the muttie to clients

One of thease sugestions would solve the problem of noobs joining and not being aware that they are playing an Edited Version of 2.9 and not the Pure 2.9
maybe you could add all the extra keybinds available with instructions how to get to and edit the ini, in any such thread so that any noobs who wanted to try it out would not be at a disadvantage

The password idea was already mentioned in this thread by someone eles and i thought it was a good idea :)

Passwording any server running TS should be able to keep all sides of this argument happy
It means no new gametype and also no noobs getting mixed up as to what is or is not 2.9 ;)

I'm gonna start digging into TS again. I plan to make Gunsight fov adjustable from 45 to 90 through ini file. Does anyone play on such a small monitor that you want smaller FOV... now is the time to request.

what's the "proper" FOV for a 21 inch monitor?

Other than that i'd just prefer to be able to get "parts" of TS at the moment.

If you're doing an ini file anyways, i'd recommend doing most of the major things through ini, so people like defkon can in effect have parts of the mutator, and disable the parts he doesn't like.

In the next release, just pick what FOV you think represents 1x well for your display, this will directly effects the scopes as well. For example, if you set Gunsight to 90 degree, the FOV in ACOG mode will be around 28 degree (4x zoom). The ACOG has 7 degree angle of view so the diameter of the scope will be roughly a quarter of the screen ( 7/28 ), which is going to be much smaller than the current one. Hehe already got couple requests for slugs already, I'll keep that in mind.

While you have a much larger barrel of modifactions in hand, I would just wish for one thing: That the gunsight zoom was keyed to the use of iron sight. That way it would behave like I am used to from True Combat. Will it be possible to make a double bind on a key to achive this? And will it be possible to turn off all other effects?
I am new to UT, so i do not know what is possible and not. Contrary to Keganators belief I for one got UT to play Infiltration 2.9 exclusively.

I think gunsight should only be usable while in aimed mode.

    I agree 100% to that suggestion. :)
gunsight is actually annoying when you are back in hip mode.
So i think the gunsight feature in aimed mode only should be the way to go.

You could double bind your aim key to work like that but the aim key is also use for holding breath, so it's not going to work too well. I wouldn't recommend this set up anyway, because in CQB a larger FOV is more useful. And no, not all effect can be turned off.

I'm not going to restrict gunsight to aim mode only because it's just a matter of fov and has nothing to do with aiming.

    Now i dont understand.

So "gunsight" has nothing to do with the simulation of the eye focusing in the gun sights but is just a fov/zoom key ?

If it is just a zoom key that can be used anywhere in any situation , i cant see the interest in there, sorry.

I was also thinking of something else it would be nice to be able to expand the fov (for example in CQB) to 120. So having a normal 90 focused 45/60 what you prefer and 120 watching all corners.

Yeah I know the term gunsight is a little misleading but I got the idea from playing IL2. Gunsight mode in IL2 is 35 degree FOV, I use it sometimes to shoot long distance but most of the time I use it to ID airplanes from far away, which is impossible with FOV of 90 on my 19" monitor. About having wider FOV available, I think that 90 is adequate. Sure you have more than 90 degree FOV IRL, but everything beyond 90 degree infront of you is blurry. Compressing it into a fish eye view where every thing is nice and clear might not the best implementation.

People have played Call of Duty and other games that feature the little zooming while using the gun aimed. So they got the impression that your FOV changes called Gunsight mode would do something like that.

This should be possible to do with a little mutator if that is what the guys are asking for here.

why not have the hold breath happen at the same time as the FOV adjust, to simulate focusing better. For example the fov shift happens gradually as you steady your aim.

That would be so awsome... I really like that idea. and I would had no FOV change when using a scoped rifle.

no still do it when using a scope, that would decrease the area you can see, which should make them less popular on small maps. it would also make sure that the zoom values stay true to what the bare "eye" in-game can do.

Well I only fired a rifle with a scope once in my life so I can't say if this would be realistic with scopes. But I do a lot of photography and this with large teleobjective. Often I take very lon minutes to concentrate on a "target" (especially when taking pictures of wildlife). Never had that "zoom/concentration" feeling like I had when I fired a rifle with iron sight.
