What's really funny is if you happen upon an incoming Avirl's centre of a turning circle.

The avril whizzes in circles round and round you madly.

does anyone have problems when turning a demo into a .avi? i have recorded a couple of demos but when i try to convert them, it runs at about 3fps and takes aaaaaaaaages! [i was running the game at about 30-40fps to record the demo] also, when i watch the avi theres no sound on it!

and isnt there supposed to be a way of making a divx? but i cant find any option to make one! :(

It does use DivX to make the AVIs, supposedly. Never tried it though.

A better solution would be to use FRAPS, or something like that.

Another solution would be to connect the TV out to the Video In of another computer and record it that way while actually playing so that there's no slowdowns, weapons still show up, etc.

It took me much longer than I expected, because I planned to add how much damage each weapon deals, how much spread is and how big the splash damage is (in units). Alas...understanding Unrealscript proved much harder to understand than I thought, so can't give the details :( I hope you can settle with estimations.
And since no one saw this coming, I guess it's no problem ;)

Hey GD, haven't seen you on the UP server recently (I hope I'm talking to the right Golden Dragon :p)

two things. 1 The Leviathan is absolutely horrible against a manta. The homing missiles the thing fires go too slow to hit a circle strafing manta, and when deployed there's no hope for the Leviathan; the manta can easily speed away from any ion blasts. I've taken a levi down single-handedly with my favorite decapitating hovercraft, and it's about as easy as using a raptor to take on a goliath.

Next point. One tactic I use when fighting heavy armored vehicles is to fire one AVRiL rocket in the air, wait for my weapon to be able to fire again, and then lock on to the vehicle while firing the second missile. Since the refire rate is so slow, there's no use for this method other than ambushing tanks, but you have to admit that two missiles at once is evil :D

Yes, I'm that dragon ;) (the 'Golden_Dragon' nick is already taken on these forums). The most important reason was that I have a 10 GB limit to up- & download a month. After that, the connection becomes a 56k-lookalike..And with that speed it takes too long to download the custom maps of the UP server :( . As you could have guessed: I got there somewhere around two weeks ago.

I guess the biggest change i've seen recently is that more people know how to use the scorpion. As taleweaver said, if the scorpion gets close and gets the first shot in on a tank in fairly open space, it can take out the tank.

Nice guide, 2 things tho:

1. Goo Jump: Put 2 or 3 blobs of Goo on the ground (Pri Fire.) Switch to Shieldgun, hold Alt and jump as soon as the goo explodes. \o/
A good place to use this is to get the shield on Rankin:
Stand on the edge of the manhole above the shield, drop 2 blobs of goo, jump down, grab shield, switch to shieldgun and goojump back up the manhole. :cool:

2. The Avril goes faster than a Rocket.

I wonder if there was ever any map that used all the jumping tricks you can do in the game. Next time I make a map I'll remember to add in those things (If I ever get around to making a map that is :p)

Also, has anyone noticed that the Scorpion's bolo's or whatever they're called don't go in a straight line but actually go in an arc? The bolo's don't do this though unless you shoot the thing VERY far away.

oh yeah one more thing. I watched TWD and Brizz play a match once and looked at some other players who were good, and from what I gather Onslaught in pubs goes like this:

Two guys fly in raptors or one guy flies in raptor and other in manta.
Go to nodes as quick as you can and build them.
One person defends nodes under attack, one person attacks the enemy nodes.

as for playing tactics:
fly in raptor
kill tanks
see infantry firing AVRiLs at you
get out of raptor
kill infantry with 1337 skills
go back in raptor
repeat

:p

tell me what I got wrong here

edit: don't forget to heal your vehicles, that'll make you really 1337 :p
