what does god do with retarded people who know they did something wrong (sinned) but don't have the mental capacity to understand the concept of a savior?

I'm not sure. Some think that people like that are judged according to their knowledge. It's also suggested somewhere in the Bible that the people that have never heard the name of Jesus will also be judged differently than those who have.

That`s not exactly what the Luthern preacher told me just before I threw him out of the house when they came over to 'save us'.
He claimed that anyone who does not go to church would go to hell, I asked about the starving children who have never had the oppertunity to be introduced to god, would they go to hell too??
"Yes" he answered, they are going to hell too. That`s when I threw him out, I said my God is not going to let those children who are serving their purgatory right here on earth go to hell.

Where’s the dividing line? One mentally challenged person sort of understands the concept of a savior, but isn’t sure what to do. Same thing with small children.

It seems wishy-washy to me that some are judged differently. Coming from a religious background, I’ve been told that it was all very cut and dried. All you have to do is believe that christ died for your sins. Nothing else would work. All the good deeds in the world wouldn’t work if you didn’t believe in christ. christ was the key.

Now I'm hearing god might say, “Well, I might make exceptions here and there.”

I'm not exactly sure on this concept. I've been thinking about it for years.

That link you gave earlier, Cat, I read through it. It's full of broken logic. His conclusion seems to be that "Israel" refers to Christ because Christ is god's only son. But the history of the tribes of Israel was written well before Christ and is not ambiguous in referring specifically to those peoples. People do this all the time, you can not establish your arguments and then misinterpret events preceding yours to validate it. It's bald face lying. Not that I know why anyone shouldn't have a bald face really, but when children do this, it's pretty obvious, I don't see how we let the church get away with it. And what's with always forgetting Christ was intensely Jewish?

Well, don’t you feel that this creates an inherent problem with the logic of many Christians who interpret john 3:16 literally? At the very least, it seems like some revision or clarification of the rule is in order.

Is it me , or is Cat Fuzz already on the road to deconversion ? w3h t00t.

It hurts a lot to find out you have been the victim of a memetic virus for your entire life. But it can't hurt you afterwards...

No, there is no way I am "deconverting". It can't happen.
John 10:28 (New International Version)
28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.

Just because I don't understand something, doesn't make God's word invalid. People study the Bible intensly all their lives and they can still learn something new.

You think you can't deconvert , but that possibility is open as soon as you start wondering why you believe in the christian god. Any question has the potential to shatter your belief system , if you think about it long enough.

Here's what I think is the fastest and strongest "antidote" to the "memetic virus" of religion. Take your time to carefully read that article , think about it for a while , then come back to claim that religion can't possibly fit that description. Try it , I dare you. (the rest of the site also provides quite a lot of food for thought)

Q deconverted himself with his critical thinking. Others need more hints to find their errors. Others have hopeless cases of cognitive dissonance...
