Why can't you play HL2? (Someone had to ask).

Dont want to update your game? Dont play it, then it wont update. No problem.

Why is updating your game a problem anyway? I guess its possible a patch MAY lower performance or something, but if you are playing online, you have to patch anyway to keep on the same version.

the auto updating is a bad argument, because when theires a patch, you dont have the choice, if you dont update your weapon pack , you dont connect... its the same thing already, for any game

DTAS auto update when you connect to a server.. the mutators, ect..

Steam auto update needs to be fixed. I should be able to turn it off and do it manually. Also I want to know what the **** are they patching. Right now I can't play anything. Press Play Games and Steam locks up. Was not like that before. So what patch ****ed it up. I have no idea.

Also being on dialup it is faster to DL at work and install at home.

You can turn off auto-update. Right click on the game in the Play Games menu, go to Properties. There's a pulldown menu for Automatic Updates. You can select "Always keep this game up to date" or "Do not automatically update this game."

Edit: Not that this helps if it locks up when you click Play Games, but there is an option there. ;)

Thanks sublime, not sure how I missed that. That removes that concern. Now if they would let me download patches outside of Steam but that won't happen.

My locking up problem is probably fixable. I'll take a look at it this week. Hell maybe this gices the excuse to actually finish Doom 3.

There is no Half-Life 2 for Mac OS X, and there never will be. So, it is not a problem of updating.

Valve will also never support Linux version so it's a shame that the game will ever be Windows platform only.

Precisely everyone wants linux users to host their serves, but screw them if they want to play the game.
Yeah right like playing CS on X-box ... Oh wait a minute ...

To the team:

It's been a long time since I was last here and even longer since I played Inf, but I just wanted to say that there are those of us who still keep an eye on Inf developments and look forward to your release.

Many thanks for Infiltration and the fun it provided, and I look forward to the new version. :D

Yeah, that was pretty much my point when we were discussing the engine, there's not support from Valve other than "Host us server and go stick your kernel in your ass" :p
But otherwise, HL2 is a fine engine

Actually its probably the most important point against this choice of engine. But when you have to choose something like that, you have to look at the big picture.
