Every millisecond counts :D
Packet loss/latency are the big killers in wireless, but all things being equal (i.e. you considered a wireless speed as a constant which it is not) it probably wouldn't make much difference. Since they are not the same, it does make a difference.

somewhere; sometime?
What kind of system do you have? What kind of framerate do you get? When UT3 came out I was on a 5 year old machine where I was getting dodgy framerates and just generally crappy performance. The game essentially sucked back then.
my rig is always above par.
I had no problem running UT3 when it was released. I don't buy a game unless I know it will run smooth as butter, at least on "very high" type settings.

the reason I still have the old titles installed while UT3 sits in the closet is not for a want of horsepower. it's because the third installment felt nothing like its predecessors. I even preordered UT3, which is one of the last times I've done so with any game. call me naive but I still thought the Unreal brand could do no wrong.

my hopes were burned.
UT3 missed the mark. imo, it felt like such a disconnect from the rest of the series. it only connected on a very superficial level, which is to say, it was still a first-person arena shooter. that's about the only familiar thing they got right. it's like they tried too hard, or took themselves too seriously which ended up making the whole experience rather bland.
Personally, I'd say that is more likely the reason you have no interest in playing UT3 :p
you're also right about this.
the amount of quality, new games (thus lack of time) is probably just another contributing factor. I really couldn't get into UT3 even if I tried.
it's too late.

I dunno, I usually try to innovate with UT3 as much as I can...since I love to map and mod the game like crazy. Heck, I even think of UT3 as being like a Quake game, a Counter-Strike game, I always try to make UT3 everything that it's not sometimes. ;) No matter what theme I want to give my maps or mods, chances are, they may make the game play better or worse, depending on how well I do with everything.

Why cable with a limit of 1Gb/s when your Internet operates at 5Mb/s?

The problem with Wifi is simply the probability of interference. If your connection never got any interference, your Wifi, even on 102.11b, would likely operate as fast as the maximum capacity that most people's Internet connection can go. At 802.11g you've just left the same planet as the vast majority of connections out there. At 802.11n, you're a rich man if you can match that connection speed.

Lets debate this one a bit ..
Cause i like my LAN speed as fast as possible would be 1 reason.

Any or every time you have any type of bottleneck your going to take a performance hit one way or another sooner or later.

Ever hear of the term WFO? (while its true it doesn't matter much if ya got a top fuel dragster restricted by a 500 HP governor, but how would ya know if you could potentially squeeze some more ponies out though if ya didn't eliminate the obvious bottlenecks as a starting point ..)

3rd would be (being a tech / consultant since 80486 machines) i'm not down with the security issues with wireless connections.

Any hoot ..
Satellite broadband has to be the worst, great for rural, horrible for dependability, talk about garbage .. ((I'd recommend staying far away from it unless someone has no other available option)

I would try to make UT2k4's DM a proper fun experience and more Unreal-ish like UT1 and UT3 but I guess it's impossible considering my heavy dislike for that game.

Well, then I have no bias or impartiality to any FPS game, just so long as it's a first-person shooter, it's on the PC, it can be played via keyboard and mouse, I'm usually happy, regardless of what it is. Talk about someone like me that just goes in and plays, and doesn't care if it's as fun as other games. I mean, sure, if I had a choice, I probably would revert back to UT2004, but I just learn to get with the times, and move on. If UT3 is where Epic wants to focus its main support in the franchise, then so be it, I'll just innovate with it to force myself to make it fun to play like I do with other games.

It's not that, Epic stated once that they wanted to do more work for UT3 but couldn't due to Midway being a POS and going bankrupt. So they literally abandoned the game even though more work could have been done on it if there was another publisher giving them money to support it.

We probably would have seen at least two more small patches and a bit of extra content if that would have happened. I would have loved to have seen something......... anything. Maybe more Scar Chick stuff.

iirc Midway commissioned Epic to do two titles, like they did with 03 and 04. But i heard that ages ago.

If it's true we could have seen UT4 by now :/

If false then atleast more patches/support, i'd have hoped.

I believe the first title was UC2, although I'm not sure if they meant UT titles or U titles.

TF2: nearly 3 years and counting.
I'm still optimistic about the franchise. It would work if they follow that model

Or they could release the equivalent of an Orange Box. For example, a more basic UT4 instead of a super-production, GoW 1 and a community made game.

But Epic doesn't support UT3 at all, they've abandoned anything Unreal related for Gears or War.

Well, guess that's true...after all, I remember that iD supported Quake 3 ever since 2004 or 2005, I believe they patched it up until Quake 4 was released. At least Carmack cares about his games, unlike Epic with the Unreal franchise.
