Is INF all about 5.56 Assault Rifles?

heh, well Snake, Iv'e said it once, and I'll say it again. Like I give a **** what a worthless not contributing peice of **** like you thinks.

has nothing to do with what I think, its plain facts.

-P90 can penetrate IIIa within its effective range
-IIIa does not stop rifle rounds,it may help keep you alive but it most certainly does not stop them.
-You do not use subsonic ammunition with a rifle supressor
-A buckshot round is ballisticly pretty much the worst thing you can use for penetrating armor. Its designed to have minimal penetration in order to deliver maximum blunt force. Does that mean its not physically possible? no. But just cause you heard on "COPS" that if you put the muzzle up against the body of someone with IIa armor it has a chance of penetrating doesn't mean we should throw all the research done by the team and others on its combat capabilities out the window. Simply put, its hardly ever used by the military anymore for a reason, and when it is its mostly in a utility function.
-The pump action does not give you more punch, the increase in muzzle energy over semi-automatic is if anything negligible

BTW if you consider "COPS" a reliable source on a firearm's combat performance, or is "pretty informative" about anything other then how ****ed up the human race is, you should probably save yourself the trouble of looking like an asshat and stop posting now.

make shotgun shots to the armor loss stamina first, makes you drop the gun with a 50% probability , and some other things like that

That's sounds like a pretty good idea. I was thinking myself of losing visual ability for a split of a second or falling over (which isn't that good because it would require new animations)

How about increasing how loud the sound is in close, making it play a bit farther away, and having no distance sound since bullet crack isn't modeled anyway.

Sounds like a good idea, too, but is this possible with this 'not so powerful' sound engine? If yes, another way to go.

Good idea. A target without stamina will not run away till u kill it. And due to the fact, the first blast of a shotgun destroys Lv2 armor (if nearly all pellets hit the armor). Might be a rule to use with all bullets. This way it will make a difference, if u get hit by ten 9mm on your armor plate or not.

maybe if you are flat on your feet, personally I think all weapons shooting you in the vest should take away your endurance like if you suffered the injury unarmored. Cause the vest might stop the bullet, but you're still gonna feel it. The only exception to this is the metal plate in the IIIa, I'm not how much of the force of impact that absorbs.

But for the most part though my point is lets not get into totally exotic things that are very rare. I spent three years in ROTC attached to a Texas National Guard Unit ( that is now in Iraq ). We didn't get much. Our armoury consisted of mostly grenades and M16s. No exotic ammo, just plain old ball round. We had three LAAWs and a few claymores ( probably given to us by mistake ). This is mostly what your going to see in the field. Now regular army probably gets a little better, but your not going to see a lot of exotic stuff on the battlefield. We already have the HK Mk23 and the .357 desert eagle. Now you'll are talking about putting armour peircing rounds in assault rifles. Whats next, Pulse rifles? Leave it alone. Some people have said they are against any others belt feds, etc. but these are far more common on the battlefield than armour piercing rounds.

Not exactly an ambitious goal to simulate the armory of a b-class reservist unit in a Spec-Ops simulation ;)

I don't like the idea of dropping weapons, but yes defintaly stamina drop. Sounds good. Maybe the difference between catching a bullet and actually getting hit would be that when your vest catches the bullet your stamina will drop as if you just ran, since you aren't actually injured you will get full stamina eventually. When actually getting hit, well... the same as now I guess.

I also agree that stemina should drop (to some extent) when hit but not injured. The force of the impact should dictate how much stemina is lost. That could be implemented in BS4... since yurch is working on hit detection... that would be nice. But It might need to tweak the player class, so it might be easier to add this to RAv3 intead of BS4. Yurch knows his stuff better than me ;)

As for weapon drop, i'm not really for the idea... but in some situations you could drop you weapon AND drop on the floor. On exemple is being it by a RC50 or PSG1 sniper and surviving. That wouldn't be too interesting in game though.

If you do that, make the stamina regeneration rate much faster. Then again, I've always been a firm believer that faster drain and faster recharge would make everything more dynamic. As it is now, you just wear down and eventually stop.

Indeed, I remember doing that on road to kandahar when I had to cd. Sprinting from rock to rock, proning for stamina... then sprinting again.

People dumb enough to rush first?

edit:
Anyway I don't think going prone should recharge stamina that quick. I mean when you lie down you aren't exactly comfortable or something.
Also, I'd love it if leaning would stop you from recatching breath, maybe even slowly drop your stamina. Sounds only realistic to me.

I don't know about combat but many a times playing paintball I've stayed prone for a minute or so after a hard rush to catch my breath

same here at tag-ball... prone in a dark corner to catch my breath, wipe the sweat in my eyes and fill up my gun. But that's very seldom because I normally stay in control and don't run around without any reason.

Lying down when it's not necessary for cover is generally going to leave you far more vulnerable in combat than you have any right to sensibly desire. That's not to say there isn't ever call for it, but running from rock to rock, proning to catch yuor breath is silly. The problem with infiltration's stamina is that it's far too static and doesn't really reward short bursts of movement or anything else suitably dynamic.
