Tracers that show up from time to time aren't tracer projectiles that are used to actually do a trace on purpose. Traces can show up randomly.
Ok, but that still doesn't really answer our question... Was this coded as an intended feature? Is it realistic? (doesn't seem so) and why was it put in? (if it was intentional).Beppo said:the projectile isn't illuminating like a flashlight or meteor... it is the air that shows its flight path...
a real tracer bullet looks waaay different...
hhmm.... Could someone who knows about guns (a self proclaimed gun guru) tell me what is going on here? If they aren't tracer rounds, and the bullets are not heating up on rentry to the atmosphere .... Then what is causing this to happen IRL? Do the bullets cause the air to condense similar to the contrail of a jet? What's the real life cause of this, I am just curious.Beppo said:It was put in cause our weapon gurus said to add these tracers. They even gave the chance factor for them to show up.

NOTE: Trace is the visible trail of a bullet and is created by the shock wave of a supersonic bullet. The shock wave compresses the air along the leading edge of a bullet causing water vapor in the air to momentary condense and become visible. To the observer, located to the rear of the sniper, trace appears as a rapidly moving V-shaped vortex in the air following the trajectory of the bullet. Through close observation and practice, trace can be used to judge the bullet's trajectory relative to the aiming point, making corrections easier for a follow-up shot. Trace can best be seen if the observer's optics are directly in line with the axis of the sniper's rifle barrel. Watching the trace and the effects of the bullet's impact are the primary means by which the observer assists the sniper in calling the shot

Every time I find myself wishing that I just play the game and realize that they're there.Logan6 said:I wish we did have tracer loads for those guns.
