Yurch, you need to learn how to count or something?? :D

Try changing the version number on that file every once in awhile! This update is prolly v2.5 at least!! I can't keep up with the number of times you adjust stuff!

some ideas...

I was gonna read the whole thread, then I saw it was 29 pages. It took me an hour just to get through 7 pages. Anyways, there were some things back there that make me want to put in my opinion. I also have this really strong feeling that I'll get flamed tho..

First, the robar aiming. In firearms, the M82A1 could not be fired unless prone. Crouched did not count. In INF, I would expect it to be possible to *aim* a robar if it was perched on another object, but i wouldn't want to be less than 5 feet behind the guy operating it.

Second, running while aiming at all. In delta force 2 (not really all that realistic, but some good ideas from there IMHO), you could run while holding your primary, but you ran faster with the pistol, and fastest with the knife or binoculars (binocs were std issue too, but we're talking about delta force, ya know).

It's the same way in Operation Flashpoint. If you're running, and bring up the optics, you slow to a careful walk. If you pull out the LAW launcher, you kinda stumble across the field crouching, and can't aim at all while moving.

Just some ideas. Oh, and if it's already all in the package, you should know i haven't had a chance to try it yet. I went to join AFA2, but realized that I needed to install another mappack first. When I got back, the server was empty.

You bring up an interesting point. The M82A1 weighs around 30 pounds WITHOUT the clip. The gun includes an integrated muzzle brake (reducing recoil by around 40%), a recoil-absorbing shoulder pad, and a barrell that "gives" slightly when fired. One could theoretically fire it from the shoulder, as it has about the same recoil as a 12 gauge, though I doubt that anyone could accurately fire a 30 pound gun from the shoulder. Thus, you fire it prone.

The Robar is supposed to weigh somewhere around 25 pounds, WITH the clip. It has no muzzle brake, no recoil absorber, no "giving" barrell...nothing. It's a straight-out .50 BMG-throwing monster. It should be IMPOSSIBLE to fire that beast while standing.

But that's taking it from the information that I have. I haven't ever fired either gun, so I doubt that I'm in a position to make a truly accurate judgement.

Yeah, it's long. But we're going for an all time record: A thread that's remained active for over a year!

And once again, I agree on the robar: No standing firing, let along while you are moving.

I think you should still be allowed to pull the trigger while standing, it should just knock you back a bit and throw the gun WAY off target... IMO it's a lot better to make something reasonably difficult that people don't WANT to do it rather than to rule it out offhand... (e.g., I now actually attempt to use my prone key when I have the PSG instead of trying to stand to get a better view)...

Yurch, i just got off AFA2 and i noticed that strafe speed while jogging seemed a tad slow...was that changed recently? I don't think it feels natural.

Thanks,

LP

No, it has not been slowed. Its accelleration has(a few months ago?), but the top speed is still the same as I have had it for a very long time.
at which point is he gonna dub it "ra3" ?
I think I will when 2.87 hits. It will be a significant enough amount of work to suffice a namechange.

This thread is an absolute monster. I've never posted here or read it. But I'm posting now no good reason.

The most impressive thing about this thread isn't just its size or venerability, but that after all this time it's still on topic (more or less, and this post isn't helping).
