Vega-Don, what he's saying is that the minimi IS NOT an UBER weapon, because it thankfully has that awful recoil. If it had a more realistic, rifle-like recoil, it would become an uber-weapon instead of a squad support weapon that it is now.

really like the new weapon sound

im still getting strange scope errors ever since the second released beta - any idea how i can fix it?

also when changing weapon mode from semi to auto has a little animation when not aimed which is great, but that doesnt happen when aimed (not scoped) - is this intentional?

attached a screenshot for the aimed scope mode problem im having

Who (what) is "They"? Grenades? 40 mm?

"Show up"... where? when?

"stay the same"... as what? As the physics without yurch's 40mm?


Clarity is the first step to be understood...




On a related note, I haven't experienced any problems with the XM8 while using yurch's 40 mm mutator (neither online nor offline). After you clear up your post, maybe I'll have enough information to go try it out and see if it's a general problem.


Maybe starting by telling us what you where doing exactly and what mutators where running (all of them) would help to reproduce the problem.



EDIT: that was a quick edit sir_edmond? please crosscheck your things before posting.

EDIT (bis): so I guess you where talking about the HEDP penetration which you state in a later post...

The other scopes are made in the same way...
Magnification is done by reducing your Field of Vision and stretching it out to fit your monitor...as in, taking a small section of your screen and blowing it up to fit the whole screen. This is how the other scopes are made, and it is how I made mine as well. So, kindly shut up when you don't know the details of how a game is made thanks.

If you have experienced something specific like "the HEDP can only go through x u-units with your mutator running whereas it normally goes through y u-units without your mutator running". Else why the hell are you posting things like that. It doesn't help at all. Just leave duke (or anybody doing developpement alone) unless you have REPEATABLE issues that are SERIOUS and backed up with PROOF.

You are wasting our time... and we don't have a lot to spare. :mad:

First of all duke im not complaining about recoil specifically on your weapon the last few versions it was unbalanced, i dont know about now.
But i do have a quetion about the XM8 why is there a black part within the site, when not zooming in?
It makes it look like the site gets smaller as you look in, from pictutres i have seen of the XM8 it does not seem this way, if you know better please explain.

AS for the recoil topic, im posting about that on a diffrent thread, and it doesnt belong here.

OK... i've done some quick tests and I know what you are talking about.

Here is a description of the problem:
On some occasion, on some surfaces (especially on thicker ones) the HEPD fragments do not penetrate but are bounced back in the wrong direction (e.g. towards the shooter).

Mutators running during the tests (except yurch's new40mm and 40mm compatible sounds):
- duke's XM8
- duke's new weapon icon
- report direction
- microbulk
- no ACOG and M203

I've experienced this problem with ALL permutations of these mutators.


All test where performed OFFLINE in DM-INF-Walltest from beppo and DM-INF-shootingrange.


Conclusions:

This problem is not a new one and isn't related to dukes XM8 but to yurch new40mm muttie. If you do a quick search of the post i did in the thread about yurch's new40mm, you'll see that this is something I had reported to him in one of his early relases. Then, they way the shrappenels where made, it drove my CPU meter off the scale. The later release fixed the CPU issue, but not the penetration.

EDIT (additions):

1) About those two picts from sir_edmond, in one there is no penetration. The shrapnels where sent the wrong way out when the HEDP exploded.

2) About me saying "on some surfaces", on exemple of this is the second wall from the left in INF-walltest. Every test failed. I even got killed a few times by the shrappnel

3) INF walltest in posted in the RC.50 fix thread (sticky in general discussion).
