Haha, well, he told the president that they need a huge bomb to blow up millions of people. THEN he participated in inventing it. I think that makes him somewhat of a hypocrite.

ok..... who is this 'he'?? if youre talking about john howard i dont recall anything about that on the news. but anyway, the army reserves in australia do use the same equipment and recieve the same training. but seriously, i think id take reserves because its primarily defensive, not offensive... dont know what you think of that... and reserves were sent to east timor, while the real army personel were having a break. anyway the only thing that i can see that is wrong with the aust gov is the fact that they followed the us mindlessly into iraq, but being an ally has its price. and i do agree with jaunty - if you dont know something, dont pretend you do (ie no, we dont use rakes and pitchforks in the reserves and teach reservists ancient greek tactics of prehistorical warfare.).

= 100 - 200 hours per year for instruction & practice ...

That's not a lot ... as if they're ever going to be able to do as good a job as the 'regulars', unless they were in active duty in that particular field before. Only a politician would even think that a few instructions in a year would make them effective in that field.

I dont think any one is claiming that reservists are as usefull as regular army, thats why they arnt used ;)
But the base training is basicly the same, you learn to use the needed weapons and you get some heavy drilling.

well A_Rimmerlister, i think that the reserves are called 'reserves' for a very good reason - their use is to be sort of last resort and the program is meant so that reservists are able to have a regular job while they serve... thats fair enough i think.... i think just having the training is cool... but you can always shift from reserve to regular i think.... ;)

Do NOT join the US army. Unless of course you are a retard, and like to be treated like ass.

I dunno a couple of friends of mine joined the army. They weren't geniuses by a longshot, just aimless and lacked any real drive in their lives. They hate the service now and really want their term to be up. I guess that's a good thing.

And you're less likely to die in the service than in jail. And you can't deny the goodness of that fact.

I don't know if anyone said this yet because this thread is so long from idiots trying to insult you and such just for having an idea.

Remember though if you do enlist make sure you get someone to come with you that is in the Army or military so they don't screw you over. If you don't take anyone with you your bound to get screwed over just like phatcat's friend moving dangerous chemicals and such.

1st off........if you don't want to see action then stay your punk ass home.

You can be like that maintenance company and not clean your weapons and **** like that and when the **** hits the fan......you get ****ing killed or a bunch of you unit members killed because you think you suppose to be in the rear with the gear.....

2nd you being smart has nothing to do with if your going to see action... I don't think there are many dumb Apache pilots claiming they're too smart to see action.

If you are going to sign up during war time accept the fact that you could get killed or mamed and hope that its doesn't happen to you....because last time I checked a car bomb doesn't give a phuck if there smart people in the building before its goes off

a smart bomb...............ahhhh thats fuzzy math

NTKB really If you want to join please consider the facts of what the Army is all about...(I'm not going to explain it to you either) I've had to many soldiers tell me they join for the college money and they don't want to be here... You have to pay the cost to reap the benefits and sometimes the price is your life!!! All I'm asking is for you to look at for what it is, don't expect something for free.....nothing is free
