Im willing to die for people I care about, and frankly some people like Ice almost make me want to join the Al Qu... never mind, but its not that im incapable of shooting someone, I know I could easily, but its the fact of that perhaps I dont agree with some things the government is doing at this moment. Should that exclude me for service?

I know you didnt mean it in that context vedder, but if I hear "die for your country" one more time, I'm gonna kill him (well, maybe not kill him). It disgusts me how we associate the army with "protecting the country", especially when it doesnt work that way. I frikkin hate it when people say that. If I fight for something, I'd fight for people who were opressed by another. For example, I'd have no problem killing off a bunch of israelis/pakistanis who are killing pakistani/israeli kids on the street, nor a troop of US soldiers who were on there way to flame a civilian vietnam villiage. I think the best armies are done that way. Labeling for political reasons are just plain retarded, and anyone who believes it deserves to be shot.

Do you have an education already, NTKB? If so you could certainly get better payment elsewhere. And, as mentioned, not have to take orders from as many stupid people. If you still want to join the army you'll probably be given a job suited for your previous schooling. The army isn't stupid in that way, resources are put to use.

If not, then the army does give you education. Just hope you qualify for a job requiring intelligence. Many intelligent people lack the other qualities the army wants. You don't really have to be smart in order to sift reports at Intelligence HQ, as long as you're persistent and diligent.

I have a high school diploma and an A+ certification. I have some college credits but no degree yet. I do plan on finishing that up. However it just seems like maybe the army will help me get my head on straight since it seems to be going more and more the other way. Its more of a thing to do to avoid going to jail... Dont wanna go into too much details.

"I want to join the army but I don't want to fight"

Here's an idea: become the leader of your local boy scouts, and then you can go on all the hikes and camps you like, flash your balls to all the little children, and the closest you'll come to dying is when a snake jumps out and sinks its teeth into your unsurprisingly exposed scrote.

There's a reason soldiers have guns, moron. It's because they fight. If you're willing to enlist, but not willing to die, you're already a useless soldier.

You want to join an army, but you don't want to fight ?
Join the Dutch army ... they at least know how to run away instead of letting themselves get shot at ... So if your unit does get suckered into doing something impossible (like protecting a city with minima equipment while the enemy has tanks ... ) you'll know what to do.

Windows at its best
 The dutch atleast. :p
The belgian army tends to burrow itself alive in trenches.
Our damn politics don't give them enough ****ing money. Dude, they hardly use P90's, the belgian signature SMG! MINIMI's galore though...

This summer I'm going to spend 3 days in a belgian base with this summer camp. Quite fun, considering I'm too young to see a base from the inside for another 4-5 years. :(

I wont sink to your level this time and insult you back since you did it to yourself allready by stating such a pointless statement.

There are over 200 jobs in the army. Very few of them have to do with actually fighting. Im not even going to go on since thats all that needs to be stated.

Jaunty does have a point NTKB :hmm:
if your not willing to fight and die dont bother joining up for any armed service.

My friend Robert joined the coast guard and he knew there was risk involved but he felt he needed some structure in his life since he wasn't doing to well in college. Becasue of his computer knowledge he was made a yeoman for the first year. However due to the war in Iraq he was sent to do... I belive it was called OCP Training. Now he guards the port of Houston every day.

My other friend Tony was a maintance man at a building downtown. after he got fired he decided to join the army. Becasue of his experience in big machines he was going to be used as a mechanic... but they saw his experience with huge cooling systems and cooling chemicas for air conditionsers. Now they have him moving and mainting dangrous chemicals!

You never know where Sam is going to put you and if your in the army you have to know there is a chance you may see combat, and you may die :hmm:

And if you don't have many skills, they put you in the infantry :D Thats ok though, because the infantry are the guys that learn the most, and work the hardest (well, next to combat engineers) :)

Thats what you get when sending out soldiers to help protect people but dont want them to get hurt ;)

The minute you sign on the dotted line, your ass belongs to them, and they can put your bulbous ass wherever they want to. I pray to Cthulu daily that they place you in some sort of front line unit. 1st/4th "Bullet Sponge" Company sounds good. Go on. Take yourself off to boot camp and go get yourself killed. It'll make the world a better place.

If they even accept your sollicitation when they are kicking 9000 out of it.

The english just want one thing from us in iraq... 30 AH-64D's or at least the people who are trained to handle the ones they have.
The man in the UK who got the idea of buying 90 AH-64's whitout sending the pilots on training before they got them should be put out of office (if he hasn't left already)

Even if you're going to be an engineer or water supply, your going to be doing it in war surroundings. Shells exploding and bullets wizzing by. If you just don't wanna shoot any one, I can understand.

I dont mind that. I wont lie, I would be scared like any other human but I dont feel the need to point a gun at someone and shoot them at this moment. There are a few causes I wont get into that I might fight for real. But atm it doesnt look like the US President is going to go for those goals.
