It's just uber-awesome, I want it! Now we're able to create quality games without problems with engine distribution.

It might be a high royalty percentage, but if you expect to sell about 100 copies for $20 bucks each then I'd rather get $1500 and give Epic $500 than get all $2,000 and pay $1,000,000 license to Epic. Anyone expecting to do well and on a large scale will probably find the funding to buy a traditional license. I'm excited about the possibilities that this is opening!
Actually... at 2000$ revenue... which is under 5000$... you wouldn't need to pay Epic anything.

Also... this explains the mysterious forum message?

Lastly -- finally, ends my fears of Chimpire being released after UT3's end-of-life. I'll still obviously be modding UT3 to support the game and use UT3 assets in the UT3-based (non-Chimpire-based) maps... but at least the TC has this option.

Man, one thing I hope you guys realize is that this is almost EXACTLY the engine build that we're using here at Epic!

You get every single feature that we've been using here that aren't even in any games yet! We only got some of these features last week!

Can't wait to see some of the cool shizzle that comes out of this :)

Yeah you even get the new vert transform node which I have waiting to be integrated into the pipeline at work....I can't believe it this is truly truly awesome.

I think someone should recreate the original Unreal + recreating bonus maps, such as beta (we need Epic to release all the betas and alphas, they had many unique content, maybe with checks so it checks if you actually own the real game, too bad the last try to recover them failed with that flood, the guy who had them), missionpack, PSX (when I get the LDs to release these and there is high chance of that one happening) and more, such as the unreleased expansion, if I get anyone to release it, so far I failed on that one, got no response mostly.

That's how UT 3 should have looked like! Let me guess, is that the light mass tech. Been playing with that at work, it's a great tool.

Please try not to start a flame war. But I had to point this out. As much as I like UT 3, the retail maps for the most part were colorless. If the game looked like this from the get go **** me sideways I would have loved it!

Oh well, here is to the hope that "realism" trend heels over and dies. Reality is not grey and bland. But "unreal" should be ****ing far out! Hopefully we will see new and colorful environments from future UE3 games.

Hey guys, I just wanted to drop in and say that it's so awesome to see all the positive reactions to UDK. Also, big thanks to Sir_Brizz and to hal for their support with hosting the UDK assets and for just being great stewards of the Unreal development community in general. We hope that many, many developers will benefit from UDK.
