Shot was too big to paste in here at full res. It's a shot of a little useless/pointless/ridiculous experiment with BSP to see if merged brushes would have impact on the overal performance of a level, with the aim to possibly do something with this knowledge later on.
I made a small area where there would be fences to section off playable from non-playable area. The fences I purposely made pretty detailed for BSP fences, and I used those fences to check the merged stuff against the non-merged stuff. So far I've not encountered any negative side to merging brushes (excluding filesize/lightmaps for now) and the merged fence brushes prove to be remarkably stable, causing not a single error thusfar. The positive side to the merged brushes is that it actually seems to improve workability in the editor (less brushes, less chugging, apparently regardless the complexity of said brushes, so far anyway), and ingame it makes little to no difference for performance. I went and merged the fences from 976 brushes to a mere 6 brushes total. Further investigation pending.
On an unrelated note, I should really just install Max on my PC again.
