I heard that's the way epic does it...they throw down real basic BSP and then the art department just draws meshes over it...I guess everyone's approach is different but it seems like aligning meshes and BSP in tandem in the smoothest way to put it together

I kind of do them in tandem...see what the next areas needs architecture-wise, and how much is gonna be BSP or mesh...I start with BSP too, but it seems like a weird approach to BSP out the entire thing, then fill in with mesh after

yeh I use BSP to give me a rough idea of room size and dimensions, BSP is changed/moved/deleted while I mesh.. my maps are predominantly Mesh so there's no real need for BSP by the time im done. some people don't like my maps with the amount of meshes i add. but they are living back in UT2004
by the time my levels finished the BSP is very very basic.. but i think it is to start with.. but really I would never start with meshing.. its just to hard to imagene where im going with the design of things.

Here's some F'ed up awesome material I just made, I inverted one effect then multiplied another, and it started to look insanely unique. I see no use for this whatsoever, just thought I'd share this with you guys.
Looks like they had a major spill in the bukkake factory.

This is some concept that I created in UE, normally I would draw my concepts but this time i decided it would be easier to do a combination starting something in the editor and changing it as my ideas change.. I dont wana show much so here is something old that shows initially the idea I had for an outside level with to bases you can go inside.. but tht idea has changed now... i wont be showing any of the new stuff yet.
