I love the game, hate the people. I stopped playing, and I'm happy. Yay.

I still do hope that one day I will like both the game and the people again, but it's not very important anymore. Been away too long to care.

A shame though, a real shame.

Well mort your certainly not helping the problem by leaving. But whateva flaots your boat. This community has always been tiny anyway. As long as I can get a 4 on 4 going im happy.

I really think sentry studios needs to crank INF2k4 out VERY soon, if they do that im sure it will be very popular and they can make some $$$ off it ;)

If I would quote everything you were posting here then I would need to use the two letters of 'BS' very often pal.

Very nice of you to insult your player base :)

Anyway, as to the rest of it, would you like to see screenshots as proof?

Got one from the "Greatest 2.9 moments" thread. Got several more with at least
one person never dying, just I don't have a means of compressing them to a
reasonable size.

As long as its modifications that's being made, Sentry won't make a dime off any sales unless a licence for an engine is bought. Getting a licence to use the Unreal engine (UT2004) would set you back a few hundred grand. But hey, if you got a few big ones lying around, say 10-20 large, you know where to send them. At least it's a start ;)

Well I hate to mention this but Counter Strike started as a mod as well, and they built enough player base to support them going retail. Anything can happen...

What *could* happen is that some major publisher realizes the potential Infiltration has and decides to fork out the money for it. Or maybe some Russian billionaire decides to "sponsor" it in return for "certain favors to be disclosed at a later point in time". I hear the Russian mob is loaded. With both cash and weapons. What a goldmine :p

Why are these different gamemodes 'heading in different directions'?
Almost any online game out there at least has DM, TDM and CTF.
Same for Infiltration. Why are people who only play one gamemode 'heading into different directions'.
Rav2 was a mod, yea. Bit more than a gamemode.
I'm happy that i can enjoy inf in all modes anyway. :)

I believe that could happen. I feel that games are already are turning more and more in this direction.

I also feel we're gonna have some rain tomorrow, followed by some sun in the late afternoon.
Thank you, goodnight.

SG needs other maps...

I've got 5 -email addresses, two PM inboxes and my own forums and I still have to come here to find out someone does not like the map list. Ever heard of telling the admin? :)

Seriously, if anyone ever wants different maps, all ya gotta do is ask and suggest some maps. I have been swamped lately and I just don't have time to test play a bunch of maps to put up there. Suggest away.

Oh and NTKB (Who has done a great job with the last two map lists) and Outlaw, along with a few others, will be helping to admin the servers and will have the rights to add maps, change map roations, camos, etc. so you can tell them too.

Well for me the fun has gone! And I sort of officially announced my retirement from INF today on our clan forums!

Not because of INF, I still love the game and have never found another game that I play with the same kind of commitment & passion!

Not because of the people, over the years I have made some very good friends (and maybe some good enemies too )!

but the community is shrinking, we seem to be heading in different directions again, EAS/TDM/DTAS, the ILCR is getting more and more fragmented, one clan has already dropped out, and I can see 1 or 2 others maybe following soon!

The bottom line for me is I can no longer seem to get a good game of Inf when I look for occupied servers! Maybe 1 or 2 nights a week there are sufficient on for a good game at the times I can play!

The effort/reward ratio seems to be changing too much and maybe it's time for my family and career to recieve the energy I put into Inf!

No hard feelings, no sour grapes, just a big feeling of regret really as I finally hang up my rifle!

GL to everybody and maybe I'll be back on the servers again in years to come

You know its hard not to chuckle when someone posts saying they are going to quit because they can't find enough populated servers. If you like the game how does quitting help? So you can only play 1-2 times a week, how is that worse than not playing at all? Only get on and check on Friday and Saturday nights, my servers almost always have at least 10 people on them and GD has people then as well.

Also, who pimps Inf to others? Seems we have a really great game here that nearly everyone that plays likes but the community is not growing? Why? What can be done to improve the community? Instead of quitting, let's all try and think about the things we can do to make it bigger. I am plum outta ideas but I would be a welcome participant to anyone else's idea. Let's focus the time everyone is spent writing these long "Bye bye community" mails like they are headed off to war and we may never see them again (I mean come on, what are those posts really?) and spend it coming up with ways to make the community more attractive to others. There has to be something we can do. The coders are working their asses off so us code-dumb community members gotta find a way of our own.

Demo... it was you that insulted me first ya know. And as I said... 3 vs 3 is not the stuff I was talking about... not enough to protect all or most routes to the objectives. And 'one person never dying'... you claimed that the whole team doesn't die... again I'm not talking about a 3 vs3 or 4 vs 4 match...

You mean the people that make comments like that one? I am not saying you are unjustified, but is it really necessary?
I think it was pretty obvious I meant the people playing online. Sure when I used to play there would be cool people on each server, but playing with 2 nice guys wasn't worth being surrounded by idiots anymore.

Many of you "bitch" about severs without players, but when do you play? I did not play on public servers for weeks (last time I played there were many EAS servers and two TDM, but no DTAS). Now I played the last days on public servers and there were allways at least two where I could play. And it was pretty funny, ok there wasn't a populated EAS server beside the closed ones for training but you could play DTAS or TDM. You could argue whatfore 2.9 is if you are playing the same style as you did back with 2.86, but that's simply not true. 2.9 is more than only 2.86+EAS.

Rostam, I know exactly where you are coming from. Its hard to listen to all the bitching and lack of respect people show on the servers sometimes. On the other hand, I think you will find that its the same regardless of what game you are playing.
