Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. 1) I describe what happens in this thread, and what has happened in just about any about UT3 thread before this one after UT3's release. In the year or so (or more) that UT3 has been released, I see nothing but old and mentioned arguments. So please enlighten me as to why people are not whiners if all they do is say the same thing over and over again.
2) Interpretation is a powerful thing. Never did I say what I thought about the quality of the game Epic released. I merely stated that people seem to be more interested in hating on it rather than being enthusiastic about new content/expansion coming.
Unreal Tournament is a great franchise first and foremost for the PC. Therefore they should seriously just worry about the damn PC right now for the game.
With all the X-Box 360 piracy going on at the moment, it would be foolish of them to even consider wasting their time with it. The employees at Epic need to support their families you know!

But, to be fair, there are probably less people playing vanilla gametypes in either of those games than in UT3.It is IMPOSSIBLE to find a vanilla game in UT. Every server has 800 mutators on it that change everything from gamespeed to weapon balance to "netcode". It's ridiculous.
There still are number of vanilla servers around. For example DutchNet TDM server with reclis is always populated not mentioning numerous DM/CTF servers.

I personally hope there are more fixes and improvements than content. I believe we get a lot of free content as it is with maps and mods. I also hope the single player will be a tournament once again. I don't mind them continuing the story, I actually liked it for the type of game this is, just make it a tournament again please. Also, the character creation can be much better, I think even EPIC said that at some point, so I hope they work on that. I'm also hoping for Ripper and the Skaarj to return but I really doubt that will happen. Can't wait to hear more about this pack, UT3 has crazy potential. I wonder how long they've been working on this MAJOR pack...

I agree that the UT2004 characters looked like someone hit them with a shrink ray or something but the art style itself was a lot more visible to me compared to some of the new characters that just look like wet lumpy mud so overwhelmed with details that you can't see the details. ("less is more" "a design is not complete when there is nothing more to add, only when there is nothing more to take away")
Well, I'm sure others would agree with me that it wasn't a good design decision.
Could you point me to their explanation? I seem to remember seeing a technical explanation regarding the engine having problems with it in multiplayer. I guess I could be wrong.
I think they should do the same for ut3. Just keep the old ones around because I'm sure some people like the old ones and I think it would be interesting to be a necris character run out of rockets, kill a human, and pick up their different looking rocket launcher.
Come on, you honestly can't see the overwhelming similarity between the necris storyline and chronicles of riddick (and whatever riddick copied from)?

Then that has nothing to do with the CoR comparison. The story sucked of its own, even if it shouldn't be the focus of any MP games (though, Flag Lattice Generator is really lame).

1)You write that you describe the things that happen here and in every other thread, which would be: negative posts about actions taken by Epic.
The reason why people bitch at Epic is because Epic did not keep their promise on some points, and did not meet the expected level of quality on some of the other points (while they did use all of them for selling the game). That most of these arguments are eleven months old, doesn't mean they are less valid. What it does mean, is that Epic has still not gotten their game to the expected quality level after eleven months (which is a disgrace to most people, including me). Since Epic hasn't been able to meet the expected level of quality in eleven months, people are getting suspicious for a good reason. What if Epic sells us a game again that promises things it will not deliver? Therefore we can't be whining (because it's legit criticism).
2)You left out the reason why people whine in your first post. Since this is a forum post, I read it with the reasonable rules attached to that. One of them, is that people leave out information they think is not relevant for their statement, or because nothing of importance for their statement has happened. Reading your first post, I can only conclude that your negatively surprised by the amount of people who are suspicious about the expansion, and that you think we are complaining about things that don't matter (whining). I am sure I did not treat your post any differently from others, and I think most other people would have read it the same way. I pointed out that this is because of the reasons stated above, and that therefore we aren't whining about it: we just don't want to risk getting ripped off again, which is perfectly normal in my opinion.

The story is supposed to be taken with joke........it's not a story you should expect being to be so oh great and epic and it's better than the previous titles, the singleplayer itself..a good learning curve I would say when you explore more and more...although after that, there's very little to discover about the game and some features are not used too much in some maps...

You and I have different meanings for whining. What people say may be true, but I find it surprising in a negative way mostly because people still make it sound as if it hasn't been said before. I don't know about you, but if I read posts with the same tired complaints (from the same people) for the umpteenth time without being constructive I would consider that whining.
The way this all reads makes me think people would rather not get anything from Epic anymore, in which case they're not doing anyone a favour by posting. Any announcement or news item related to Epic seems to be an excuse to open up the can of worms that is frustrated or angry forum goers who have purchased UT3 and are dissatisfied with it, so they need to vent rage. I for one, am tired to see that happen time and time again.
EDIT: On top of that, it seems that either you didn't get the point of my initial post, or you don't want to. People can have issues to mention all they want for however many times they choose, but it is the lack of being constructive while doing so that annoys me.

I agree, I'd love to see what sinx could do if they paid him full time to work on it. He's certainly had to hand-code enough stuff for it.
It seems kind of sparse compared to the previous games.
