I had a pretty good time Friday night.

I do enjoy ONS and CTF more than the other game types though.

And to add to what Hal said, I'm glad to see so many new people in FragBU.
In 2k3 I always felt that FragBU was a stone that had to be constantly pushed to go anywhere.

2k4's FragBU appears to have a lot of momentum and is gaining all the time.

After m&ms brought the Romra respawn bug to my attention, I decided to take the matter into my own hands and make a fixed version. But I couldn't stop there... I also fixed a ton of other bugs, completely reworked the lower area, deleted the unnecessary meshes, added some trim, etc. But, I couldn't decide on which theme to use, so I'll leave it up to you guys to decide which one will go on the server.

Here's the first theme:

And here's the second theme:

I like the first scene better since it's different from the generic space scene. I like generic space scenes, too, but there's already a lot of them.

Raffi while your at it, add little side rails to the outside edges. the idea I'm aiming at is so you can't accidentally Run off the edge, but enough that it can be jumped over, maybe enough it can't be Dodged over, but a dodge jump can be. Thought only.

as for background, your looking for the easiest way to see peeps so base it on that.

Another thought: the area leading to the amp, Make it clear run, you may be able to accomplish this by Moving the block in front of the pathway back as shown by the red arrow, fill in the hole in black and place an FBU pic there! this may give the EFC as well as defence more area to fight on. As shown in the pic.

I say keep the space theme. It's easier to see opponents than on the busy ElecField skybox.

No rails, don't fill in holes, or anything else to change the map as all of those are challenges that add to the overall play of the map. The rails force you to keep track of where you are as you play and the hole in front of the flag forces the fc to one side or the other.

I go for not changing it at all (Except to fix the blue spawn delay bug) since I'm working on a map for a project based on Romra, and that would kill the hours of work I just put in. In fact, now that it's all sorted, all that's left is fixing the blue spawn bug and the like.

I think I like the non-space one better. We should have a test-play on Ketnar sometime this week on both to see which people like better after playing them in a FragBU-like environment. ;)

GG's last night had a lot of fun.

Poor DarkPulse having to suffer because of my xloc ;) :biggrin2:.
Just you wait until I figure out that trick. You'll rue the day you crossed me. >: )

Besides, I got nice Telefrags the night before. Just gotta figure out how the hell you did it. My bet is you stopped short and waited for me to launch, then timed your fire.

I like the non-space theme of Romra. Space maps just always have that blah feeling to me nowadays since there's really not much to them, and they even feel somewhat boring to play. Ideally though, it would nice if a sort of test run could be made of both versions as someone else has already mentioned.

Yeah, this version of Colawars is a bit different from the UT version you may remember.

gg's to all.

One thing I've noticed over the past few weeks is that there are a LOT of new players at FragBU. Some of them don't seem to know what to do exactly and we need to figure out a way to help them.

My first thought is getting on the mic (TS or in-game) and trying to direct some of the action in team games, but I can't do it because I have a sleeping 16 month old in the room next to me when I play. :) Anyone that can step up and do this? I think there are a number of players that could benefit from hearing some general direction.

Or, just try to take some time out of 'owning' the other team to teach them some stuff. Lots of games are close and are fun, but some are just blow-outs and are an exercise in frustration. We're generally pretty good about switching up (sometimes to a fault) but I can see some people getting overrun by the masses.
Very true...Im new to the whole fragbu scene, but everyone was pretty willing to help me out in a few situations and teach me a couple things in-game. Yeh there were a few moments where people got frustrated, but its all good. Definently the best community i've played with. Will do again.

Maybe make a knowledgebase section for 2k4 where everyone can go to see how the diffrent gametypes/mods work? Or we could tell them about the tutorials built into the game.
 I'll try and keep them informed if they look dazed and confused.

Well I can't say I like either. Now if there was a snow themed map with ice surface. :D Maybe even the oposite and pull an Argento and make it a bright tropical type deal. (both on terrain of some sort) If I had to chose though I would go with the first because I love me some ElecFields.

No, of course I didn't make it. I'm just using the skybox from it in a modified version of Romra (another map I didn't make)
