I was just discussing ballistics with storm.
I calculated m16 (5.56) rounds to be at 1301mps in inf.
IRL they are ~945mps
And thats muzzle velocity... and theres NO AIR RESISTANCE in Inf!
So yeah, I may be messing with the ToF at least.

Is it possible to have slow down a wee bit say every 20 or 30 meters travelled? Or maybe have it just decellerate over time? Hrm. Doing it over time is probably not too efficient in this engine...

Im not sure I understand how ballistics are done now, but it was interpreted to me as having a strait line with a bent tip.
why not just put more 'bends' in the line?

my figuration (skewed as it may be :p ) :
we've got no room for lobbing bullets at any kind of high arch.we rarely have shot a target past 300m on the current maps.
so instead of doing heavy bullet fall math for every shot, cant the bullet just follow a preset path with predefined damage levels over range?
would that be any easier on the system?

for zeroing sites, we dont need animations and all that for now.
just some kinda text warning reading off what its set to, and the bullet fired in the proper direction to correlate with that setting (still using the current site picture)
should work for those hard core enough to want it(?)

I haven't looked at the code for this section, but maybe it's as much just a mutator called every tick that returns a:
If Actor==BulletActor
{
Actor.Velocity=Actor.Velocity*.99
Actor.Damage=Actor.Damage*.99
}

Fall rate something similar except altering the height vector or something.

I really need to get in the code again. Bad Monk.

Im playing with my own projectiles at the moment. Just learning stuff, but Im making evil things. I don't think changing the inf projectiles would be too hard, I just need to get hard data on the rounds and get my compiler (!) to accept my damn classes.

Hey Yurch, I've been playing on AFA as always, and I have a comment about stamina. Real military guys do rucksack marches with 60 lbs and go 12 kilometers. Currently, we can barely jog around EP. I personally find this wrong, but if any of AFA would like to comment, i'm open to it. I think jogging should barely drain stamina, if at all.

i jog entire matches on ep (usualy aiming and not hipped) which i hear drains it faster

of course i stop quite a bit...

but who in there right mind would run around during war anyway?
sure you can do it on the track... but you wouldnt do it when theres enemies around every corner

Yeah, I think that was a great addition, Yurch. I didn't take to long to alter my play style, and it feels so much more realistic to not be jogging around constantly aimed. Anything that makes raising and dropping aim actively is good. For a while it was feeling like a wasted function with everyone sprinting/jogging everywhere aimed.

FYI, while hipped you can nearly jog for the length of the average RA EP match.

Yurch the random damage seems a little, um, wierd. Cause unless i really suck it is not going to take three hits with the PSG to kill someone. I would have to be hitting them in the big toe or something for it to take that many.
