According to the last estimations about 100 Germans died in the WTC.

But our stupid politicians have nothing better to do than spouting pacifist crap. Hearing a member of the Greens on TV almost made me nutz. On German-American journalist nearly freaked out in that show.
And the public cares more about some refugees or terrorists, than about their very own freedom and security

I heard the USA want to widen tapping into phonlines by the secret services. We had that very same discussion hear about 2 years ago. And you need a jurical aprroval about every little thing, and can only do it with concrete proofs.
Seeing that at least 3 of the hijackers studied at german universities, and that we probably have a few thousand sympathizers or sleeper terrorists here, makes me really think about giving the secret services more power. Some covert investigations could easily unveil possible hiding terrorits.
But in a system like ours that's practically impossible, as every m0 seems to have the right to say something or sue even the government.
People are so obsessesed with little freedoms like their privacy, that they don't realize what's at stake on a larger scale. If they are upright citizens they won't even be effected by wiretapping and such things.
This is a case of "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."
But with people, and escpecially politcians still traumatized from WWII here, it's almost impossible and a sarcrilge to be patriotic, ot sto stand up and fight for one's freedom or security

I'll take what is "liberalism and civil liberties" for $50

A few annotations as I just read back a bit:

1.) People like Mohamz make me sad to be German sometimes. It's excactly the kind of bollcrap opinion that so many in our country have. Rather sympathizing with terrorists and not-that-innocent foreigners, than caring for what we have built (technically, politically and economical).
The German parliament just vastly approved full political and military support for any actions the USA take. So said that the public (and some extermist pacifisits like our President (note that he only has representative functions unlike the Federal Chancellor)) :(

2.) That two rivers in the Isreal flag are the Euphrat and Tigris. Inbetween lies Mesoptamia (sp?) homeland of Abraham (I think)

3.) /me looks at his sig and PMB's and shouts "copycat!!"
Since when is Scotland in the NATO? ;)
j/k use it all you want. So does Jolt1

I read an interesting article by an Afganistan-American reporter

He immigrated to the US 30 years ago. According to the article, the Taliban (ruling party) is compared to the Nazis in Germany. They are the only people with money because in the 70s and 80s the Soviets were at war with Afganistan. Most of the civilians are homeless and barely surviving.

He said that a aerial attack wouldn't do much damage because everythin is already destroyed. The only way would be to send in troops but that would be harder then goin into the jungles of Vietnam. The mountains have many places for the Taliban to hide Bin Laden.

He wasn't merely defending his countrymen he is strongly for action against terrorism.

Also, he thinks Bin Laden's plan is to get a war: Islam against the west. In order for the US or other countries to send in troops they have to be stationed in another country. Since no other country has allowed this yet he figured that Laden wants the US to invade another Muslim country first which would get others rallied behind Bin Laden

It was just an interesting read and I realise that it would have been easier just to find the article and copy it. :( And sorry for the sloppyness of this post ... i typed it quickly

MUST READ

~The Binch~

Every U down in Uville liked U.S. a lot,
But the Binch, who lived Far East of Uville, did not.
The Binch hated U.S! the whole U.S. way!
Now don't ask me why, for nobody can say,
It could be his turban was screwed on too tight.
Or the sun from the desert had beaten too bright.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.

But, Whatever the reason, his heart or his turban,
He stood facing Uville, the part that was urban.
"They're doing their business," he snarled from his perch.
"They're raising their families! They're going to church!
They're leading the world, and their empire is thriving,
I MUST keep the U's and S's from surviving!"

Tomorrow, he knew, all the U's and the S's,
Would put on their pants and their shirts and their dresses,
They'd go to their offices, playgrounds and schools,
And abide by their U and S values and rules,
And then they'd do something he liked least of all,
Every U down in U-ville, the tall and the small,
Would stand all united, each U and each S,
And they'd sing Uville's anthem, "God bless us! God bless!"

All around their Twin Towers of Uville, they'd stand,
And their voices would drown every sound in the land.
"I must stop that singing," Binch said with a smirk,
And he had an idea-an idea that might work!
The Binch stole some U airplanes in U morning hours,
And crashed them right into the Uville Twin Towers.
"They'll wake to disaster!" he snickered, so sour,
"And how can they sing when they can't find a tower?"

The Binch cocked his ear as they woke from their sleeping,
All set to enjoy their U-wailing and weeping,
Instead he heard something that started quite low,
And it built up quite slowly, but it started to grow-
And the Binch heard the most unpredictable thing...
And he couldn't believe it-they started to sing!
He stared down at U-ville, not trusting his eyes,
What he saw was a shocking, disgusting surprise!

Every U down in U-ville, the tall and the small,
Was singing! Without any towers at all!
He HADN'T stopped U-Ville from singing! It sung!
For down deep in the hearts of the old and the young,
Those Twin Towers were standing, called Hope and called Pride,
And you can't smash the towers we hold deep inside.

So we circle the sites where our heroes did fall,
With a hand in each hand of the tall and the small,
And we mourn for our losses while knowing we'll cope,
For we still have inside that U-Pride and U-Hope.
For America means a bit more than tall towers,
It means more than wealth or political powers,
It's more than our enemies ever could guess,
So may God bless America! Bless us! God bless!

I just read that email. It sorta agrees with my gut feeling these days that the media is doing wrong by continually referring to this situation as a "war." It's a manhunt to bring some criminals to justice, not a war. The only way these people can justify what they're doing is by seeing themselves as holy warriors.......they need to be known for the criminals that they are.

Anyways, newest stuff from Afganistan and Bin Laden.

The Taliban were told to surrender him, or be attacked. Now they chose to revoke his guest right, and told him to leave.

What I read from that.
Firstly they cover their image among radicals, by not giving in to foreign demands. Then the buy time and might think to delay attacks. Now the media (maybe it's only here again), says they are diplomatic, and there could still be a peaceful solution.
How naive
Maybe they tell him to leave officially, but informally ask him to stay. Or he doesn't follow their "order". It could also be that he just flees to another country like Sudan or Somalia.
But to think this is a diplomatic solution is poopy

i don't think theres gonna be much done about him by the taliban

yep, they are scared. and rightly so! but he isnt going to leave, that is his powerbase there. we'll have to go and get him, dragging him out by his heals (how i wish that were literally going to be the case) giving him a nice friction brun on his face.

soldier1: whoops. looks nasty. what shall we say?

soldier2: *looks back, shrugs* he was wounded by a rocket or morter. this is how we found him.

soldier: *grins maliciously* Hmm... not bad. not enough bruises elseware for that realistly tho. hold on, i can fix that.

*sounds of various blunt instruments hitting flesh*

soldier2: *looks on calmly* yeah that'll probubly be about right. i'll call in for evac.

Violence begets violence:

I know a LOT of you hate me for a certain news post I placed at UTUG. I wish you'd have the balls to vote on my thread over at UTUG Forums/General - it's entitled "If you are angry with me please read" or somthing along those lines. Not thinking too clearly right now, don't care about those who dislike me for whatever reason. I just wanted to bring up a few points:

1. Bombing suspected terorists - killing their families and loved ones puts us in the same shoes as them - we are then no better. This will also not change ANY terrorit's mind. The survivors will go off and plan another attack - with renewed vigor.

2. Vengance is certainly reasonable at this point, but it's also certainly quite stupid. The best course of action is to prove by our actons that we as a nation are not as bad as these terrorists THINK we are.

3. Training for "Project Infinite Justice" AKA "Project Infinite Stupidity" or "Project Infinite Bloodshed" has begun. I need not state here the obvious implications.

4. People die - PERIOD. Hopefully some bad ones bit the dust in this attack, and some good ones are now in a better place.

In conclusion - Nuclear War? So what? I either die of radiation poisoning or I am incernerated upon impact. Either way I die, and anything is better than here - ANYTHING.

- Deathbliss

P.S. For the person that said somthing along the lines of "...****ed up world..." I have a news flash for ya - it's already that way. Been that way for a while.
