I think it looks kinda like a nerf gun, which fits the mood I'm going for, I think.
Anyway, the way it works is you fire at someone, which targets them and connects them to a ball via a tractor beam or chain (haven't decided yet). So then you fire and the ball goes flying, dragging your target along with them! It's really quite amusing. :lol: Right now I'm trying to get them to take damage when they hit a wall, which is working, except they take damage from the initial acceleration of being dragged. Secondary launches a ball with yourself attached. Anyway, launching people into the abyss on Face3 is a blast. It just looks so rediculous, hence the outrageous skin. :lol:

Edit: anyone remember who requested this back in the day?

New edit: UT2K3's physics are really pissing me off right now. when impacting with a wall at a high speed, the game takes the mild slope of the wall into too much consideration and makes you fly parallel to it, making it very difficult to figure out if you've smacked one well. I also can't get the thing to stop ripping you apart at launch. Anyway, here's a pic of one of my team mates being smashed against a tree one of the few times that it worked the way I want it to.

I got tired of editing that post. :p
Anyway, now I have it shooting a trace in the direction of your velocity to find if you whack anything, but I da know how to scale the damage. My only idea is to have it do more damage the closer to -1*rotator(HitNormal) the rotation of your velocity is. Anyone know how to find the measure of the angle formed by two vectors? Or how to get a single angle measure from the difference of two rotators. Or another idea completely. I wish I knew more about 3D math type stuff.

sounds crazy can't wait to try out that gun!
in any case maybe you can ask one of epics programers or something to help you... um in the beyond unreal fourms there is a section for coding questions it seems that often epics programmers stop by there to help people out.

I ended up using the fall damage code from pawn, substituting your lateral velocity for your vertical velocity, which works well enough. Screen shots coming soon! :D

Stuff you can do with the person launcher:
1. Grab a victim and drag them around! Yank 'em off a ledge and suspend them over certain doom!

Hail to the king of scopes! :p I like the idea of the scope being activated when you crouch. And the railgun prototype looks really frickin' cool IMO, great reskin of the ball launcher. The warm up time makes it a bit difficult to hit though, what about making it fire-on-release instead, so one can controll it better? At higher levels the bots thoroughly ruled me with that weapon.

The warm up is an absolutely neccessary detail. As I've said, it was inspired by the railgun in Shadow Warrior, and I really wanted to keep the feel of it. It's really a major part of the weapon's character to me. Also, if you haven't noticed, the charge bar reflects the charge of the weapon. Anyway, I'm glad you liked the scopes and skin. :D

My next weapon will be a weapon with which you shoot a hose into an enemy, then use their flesh as ammo to fire gibs at other people! After that I may release a9.

Well the Fleischmacher's pretty much done. I kept changing my mind about how I wanted it to work, but I think I finally got it working pretty well. Primary shoots gibs at a high ROF. Killing someone with the gibs will cause them to break into more gibs. Gibs can be collected to regain ammo, fresh gibs restoring more than used gibs. Secondary is a vacuum to assist you in retrieving gibs. Gibs are good. Yum.
Anyway, I came up with the idea for this weapon cuz I was in the mood for blood and gore after playing Turok (those games seem to provide me with endless inspiration). :p I think it makes a nice starting weapon. :)

I'm uploading a9 of Pain2K3 to the WMP ftp this very moment. I'll post links in the WMP news tomorrow. In the meantime, here's the list of changes for you all to observe:

Psycho-kinetic powers override foot-mounted rockets rather than multiplying their effect.
Psycho-kinetic power-granting pills now have purply rather than blue innards to reflect the purply aura it grants you.
Foot-mounted rockets now increase your speed underwater.
-Foot-mounted rockets have been renamed "foot-mounted propulsion system" to reflect this addition.
Foot-mounted propulsion system gives you metally footstep sounds.
Foot-mounted propulsion system rockets shoot in the right direction now.
Cybernetic legs have a new trail effect.
Nuker skin has been recolored.
Nuker now uses the same zoom method as the assault gun to reduce unzooming when getting shot.
Nuker scope looks different.
Nuker cloaking field failure effect has been modified.
Nuker laser dot isn't all ugly anymore.
ERPPC charge sound volume is now inversly proportional to its charge, significantly reducing its idle buzzing volume.
Railgun isn't all elongated anymore, and no longer clips into your HUD when fired.
Railgun skin has been recolored.
Railgun is no longer treated as a super weapon.
Shoulder cannon no longer fires automatically when not in use because it kept killing things before I could shoot them. :Þ
Spontaneous Combutstion mutator combustion frequency has been reduced.
Weapons now use ammo! For now, weapons can't be thrown unless due to death, because it messes up your ammo for other weapons of that type. Ballance pending.
New weapons added:
-Person Launcher
-Fleischmacher
New mutators added:
-Full Arsenal
-Pain Ammo
m6A31T not removed due to Nemephosis' screaming at me when I considered dumping it. ;)

As you can see, there's a fair amount of newness here, so I'll be expecting some feedback. ;)
