Deepershade, no offense but that's an incredibly half-baked theory (unless you're being facetious). The cold water introduced by lots of polar ice melting wouldn't even begin to touch the energy reserves stored in the oceans unless they melted in matters of like, a day. Plus all the cold water would sink to the bottom of the oceans (like it already does) and the surface, which is what affects climate the most, would be unscathed.

I never said there was an ice age during the time of dinosaurs. I just used them as an example of something a long time ago and how despite their not doing some of the things we do now... the climate still changed dramatically. And yes, there were some very dramatic changes in global climate in history.

I do believe that we should conserve what we can and be responsible in the use of our resources. I just resist the groups of people who take it too far in the other direction.

Take it up with my mate then...
He's a science major btw.. :)

If you think the greenhouse affect will only warm this world, then that's a bit naive..

Get your friend in IRC, I'd love to have a discussion about this. :) I'd like to hear his ideas and the reasoning behind them.

You're right, the greenhouse effect won't only warm this world. I think that an overall warming will probably cause many changes in weather patterns and would affect the world in a diverse way. The question that worries me is, since we are producing greenhouse gases at such a fantastic rate, how far will it go? How hot will it get?

If he had the internet, I would (cant use IRC at uni, ive tried believe me :sour: ).

From what I remember of the debate we had, he said something about the temp warming initially but in the long run it would drop.

Damn me for being a stoner. I cant remember why It drops. Ill ask him next I see him and get back to ya ;)

Incorrect. There's enough established information available even to children that eating fatty foods from fast food restaurants is unhealthy. You can't blame the company for the customers inability to a.) teach their kids or b.) read.

their adverts are generally aimed at kids, like 8 year old kids... I don't think your average 8 year old really cares about their weight... and then they turn in to fat ****ers and lead miserable lives...

why?

Mcdonalds!
