Thank you for the update. please keep us informed. please. you have a good and supporting community (even if it doesn't always look that way... sometimes you need a little kick in the ass to move forward) and you don't want to loose it.

nice nades. For what engine are they made? is it justified to have so few polys for the pin rings?

Can you name them all?

note1: blade texture is not done
note2: everything but the kabar was done by myself
note3: do not take anything I show as proof it will show up ingame. I like to model a series of things at once just to have the option.

What program/programs are you using for those? The textures are very nice, great job :D

Out of curiosity, for UT2k4 engine, waht are the poly limitations for first and thrid person models? For the current engine in INF its wise to keep them all under 1000 polys, i know the newer engine allows more but how much more?

Modeled in Modo, UVed in Maya, and rendered in Cinema 4D.

They are all about 1000 polys, but I might consider putting a few more into the grenade pins.

I have been aiming for about 2000 polys for most weapons once the unseen faces are deleted.

Strangelove, keep doing this and find someone to handle posting this sort of material on the main page (in this case, I'm specifically thinking of a dedicated PR position, not a broad webmaster; PR can be time consuming). This is how you keep community interest alive, and up to now, it's been woefully apparent that SS either does not understand PR at ll or simply doesn't care. I really can't emphasize enough how a few updates a week can be important for generating interest and support. Hell, with the way things have been going, even long time fans have been having crises of faith.

And that's unfortunate, because when you guys get around to actually posting those renders, holy crap, it looks great.

I completely agree.

Who here didn't deeply appreciated sublime beta log , despite the lack of free time and real life(tm) obligations limiting the number of them ?
It was so much better than the nothing we had before.

Maybe despite those years the INF team always has no idea of how much the community liked to see some updates even in a small text form or with some glorious screenshots (even if they were showing mostly the same thing previously shown but from another angle) during the 2.87/2.9 "soon(tm)" era.

Even if there is nothing to say : say it in an update , it can only make us happy ;) (or angry :D )

More seriously, has the INF team decided of an engine for INF 3.0 yet or at least being more interested in one than in the other ?

Isn't UT 2004 a serious candidate enough for the next opus of INF ?

You say that. I don't see it.
RO's biggest problem is the UT2004 engine. Unless you want to make a game that takes place in London on Denemark, there no reason to tolerate all that fog  I mean, I hope SS doesn't fall for the UT2004 hype.

What's wrong with London-based levels? ;)

That said, the kind of stuff I want to map (large, open urban settings) isn't easy to optimise in UT2k4, and I don't want to use fog either...

PS nice models though

I will be away tomorrow, so you get some extra renders today. The first 3 are Russian helicopter armament, with the 3rd showing missiles and cluster bomb sub munitions. These were modeled and UVed by Fenris and skinned by myself.

I don't think I need to tell you what the last 2 renders are, modeled by myself.

do not take anything I show as proof it will show up ingame. I like to model a series of things at once just to have the option.
