The team is very much alive. Things are moving along as it has always done; at the team's own pace. Rest assured, the team is far from dead.

You say that. I don't see it.

RO's biggest problem is the UT2004 engine. Unless you want to make a game that takes place in London on Denemark, there no reason to tolerate all that fog  I mean, I hope SS doesn't fall for the UT2004 hype.

Of course, if we had a 'real' community debate we could go somewhere. Now we only have a few people throwing their 'IMO' in long forgotten threads.

well, the only engine out there without that problem is farcry. actually you don't even have to use fog in ut2004, most of the ro maps don't even justify it at all.

I don't care what anyone says. UT2k4 look much better by far, than UT. And lets not get our panties in a bunch already. No matter which engine the dev team decides to use, we'll be old a grey before we get the first playable bug ridden version.

How hard is it really to port Inf2.9 movement, ballistics, and core over to ut2k4? I don't have any idea.
I know the team wants to start from scratch but could , say the inf mod team, make an attempt to just make/port us something inf-like on ut2k4?

since pretty much all the base classes are gone it would have to be done from scratch iirc.

This map that one of the Dev Mappers is making look pretty bright and happy (no fog). So, I assume it is up to the mapper...

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I was given the OK to post some renders of what I have been working on, and will be doing "a render a day" for a little while in this thread (I may miss a day here or there, but will make up for it).

So, lets get this rolling!

EDIT: oh, and beppo wanted me to let you all know that I just learned to model about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Most of what I will be showing was done between then and now.

Modeled, UVed, and skinned by myself...

And when you were making those renders and showed them to Beppo, what videogame engine Beppo had in mind ?

Nice grenade work Strangelove! Are the rings really octagonal or are you saving polys? I'd make them at least 16 sided if this is going to be a first person model. If this is a third person model, then wow! It's purty.

Even if everything else falls apart, at least we still now we're gonna be able to have NADE WARS on a new engine, yay!

Keep'em coming strangelove!
