I got bored with it shortly after Nova Prospekt (sp), mostly because it's too easy--even on hard. I might start over and play through it with this mod :)

Easy? I played on medium, and the second to last fight in Nova Prospekt was terrible. So were a lot of the strider set pieces; seemed to be completely hit or miss, sometimes. Of course, the endgame was complete easy, but that didn't matter.

Yes, please.
Sounds cool, wish I could play it...

Iron sight aiming and realistic weapon handling would have been a cool mod for Doom 3 SP. Unfortunately, most of the weapon models don't actualy have sights, so even if someone wanted to code it, they'd also need to edit all the models.

Make sure that you're shooting the guys and hitting them. It's pretty easy once you get that down. ;)

yurch- my computer doesn't like your mod. My screen freezes after 3 minutes of gameplay regardless of the map, then it goes into a stuttering series of very bizzare graphical displays before I get a BSOD with the "device driver stuck in an infinite loop." HL2 and other games & applications work perfectly fine; the driver loop error is the first of its kind I have ever experienced.

Bushwack, PM me yer email addy (one that will take ~3.5 meg file) and I'll send you a copy.

OCIW, I guess I'll try to keep an eye out for problems, but there really isn't all that much I can see causing issues. Have you tried out any other third party mods?

TSW, the 'freeaim' will be problematic, input in the game seems to translate directly to the camera first and everything else is based off that. I may be able to come up with something clever or find code that doesn't involve such problems, but it's not likely.

First impressions.

Pretty good. The crosshairs still showed up for me, but i was able to toggle them with the console command (crosshair 0). I'm not sure what difficulty i was playing at since i'm not sure what the console command is for changing it.

I too experienced the "bullets always hit where the crosshair would be" rather than tracking with the gun, but like you said i could be playing on easy or something. I didn't get a chance to use it with all the various weapons (just the 9mm and the smg), but I personaly felt that the 9mm was held a little too close to the screen to represent it being "held at arms length". The only evidence i have of that is that when firing the gun, the recoil almost makes the slide of the gun "touch" the 1st person camera. Course this might have more to do with Gordon's default animations... it almost looks like he's "limp wristing" it. Probably nothing you can do with that. Too bad there's no way to use anything out of CS:S instead, at least thier models use 2 hands. lol

Over all i really like it, but for my prefereneces i would have moved the weapon models a little farther from the screen (maybe i just have longer arms then most) ;)

You don't. INF and nearly every other game that's ever done ironsights puts pistols too close to the screen. This is partially just a bad decision and partially the result of the limitations imposed by using a monitor as your only display instrument.

Also possibly just yurch only working in two dimensions for origin offset, for the time being.

I think it's more or less just not on "priority" list atm. There was another mod called "HL2 Substance" that sorta reduced the size of the weapons on screen. It actually kinda bothered me at first, but i got used to it. Personally i'd prefer that instead of haveing the "lower your weapon" you had a hipped mode (just use the default position without the crosshairs) and then the "aim mode" be like it is, but with the weapons either held farther away, or reduced in size to give that impression or something.. i dunno. eh whatever. i'm intrested to see where this goes.

I guess in reality the major things that need to be tackled would be fix the need to manually load maps, so you can play through it like a normal mod, and figure out how to get it to deafult to normal mode, or disable the autoaim in easy. the other stuff is just cosmetic.

Ever consider my sense of depth is just different? :p
yurchOffset_x (in console, followed by a number, higher is further) will globally adjust all weapons to be closer or further away. They all have thier independant settings added to this, the global one is for my ease of adjustment. Bear in mind it will require some weapons (especially the pistol) to be recalibrated because many of the HL2 models don't point straight ahead. You'll see in many places that the clipping, animations, deleted faces and other problems are sometimes caused simply because the artwork isn't set up for this sort of thing.

DEFkon, the difficulty setting can be found in options->difficulty. It's the first screen that pops up when you press options. :p

You realize I had spent months corrupting my Unreal tournament trying to get realistic weapons with crosshairs to work in Xidia gold and return to Na Pali.... Now that this is here it seems my prayers from years ago have been answered........ and I was doing so well with the whole "boycotting steam" thing!! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!

It's so weird seeing Yurchian stuff in Halflife... it's as if I'm in a dreamworld and all of a sudden INF people start showing up.

trippy.

I should lay off the OD.
