Bumping this glorious thread because I knocked 2 more games off my queue of about 20
Metroid Prime 3 Corruption: 8.5/10
This game is definitely the easiest of the trilogy. I rate it the same as Echoes because for every fault it does have, it counters back with very very good positives. The game does hold your hand and the puzzles aren't as mind bending as previous Metroid games have been in the past. The environments however are simply gorgeous for a Wii title, and being able to use the wii-mote to aim is a blessing. Boss battles as always have been the highlight, with most requiring some what of a brain to take down. The final boss however was kind of a letdown and I was hoping Prime was going to be as epic as he was at the end of the first game. With that said, this is a worthy installment to end the Prime trilogy.
Bionic Commando: 5/10
Bought this game roughly a year ago for 10 dollars and it was worth every penny of that. Any more however and I would have been extremely dissatisfied. For starters, the environments can look awfully pretty at times, but then you realize you can't go anywhere but a straight line most of the time for fear of skin melting radiation. Yes I realize this is intentional as it basically makes it a 2d game set in a 3d area, but here are the drawbacks to this design. Most of the time it is obviously marked with a blue haze or blue streaks on buildings, but 9/10 I found myself swinging into a fallout zone with no indication what so ever.
Next the swing mechanic borders workable to just plain broken. Most times I was clearly close enough to grapple, but the blue indicator telling me it's safe would never happen, thus I plummet to my doom.
Third the story is laughable. It would have been somewhat tolerable if they didn't pull the twist near the end, which I might add I successfully guessed while dining on oatmeal this morning. The ending was also a total letdown. Oh and note to story makers out there, don't introduce a character, never give him a backstory, bring him back near the end of the game only to have him tell you he was part of this group but he isn't any more ****ery. THAT DOESN'T BRING CLOSURE!!
Fourth the framerate is atrocious in some areas. Must optimization was needed. I am sure the pc port runs much smoother but that was a failed monstrosity from what I hear(no graphical options
)
Fifth and probably my most hated - Having to play through the entire game again to find everything. Yes that is right, you can't pick a level you missed that one collectable in and snag it, you have to play through the entire game. They offer a level select, but a message comes up clear as crystal "Trophies/achievements and collectables will be disabled" WHY!!! Dumb as nails design on that one devs.
Mini annoyance - Fire kills you 2 seconds flat while you can take 10 seconds worth of machine gun fire. BAH
Overall it had its fun moments, and the combat can be rather fun once you get more grapple abilities, but overall its a pretty average game especially after the great REarmed.
