Canada... eh
Haha Yeap. Its a wicked place. I only just moved out here in mid January. Seriously a photographers paradise. Since February ever week or two would offer new blooming flowers.

Its a so interesting. For 10 years i lived in the country 40 minutes from Montreal, and i always was against living in the suburbs or city. But I'm like 15 minutes away from Vancouver INternational airport and 25 from downtown Vancouver. And it has such a pleasant vibe. exactly what i didn't think cities could be

Really nice picture, color and contrast. I just love the way the mountains blend in the back with the sky and the light orange gives it a final touch. In fact, what's the largest res you have?

And nice job on the Eagles. Were they close?

I asked a bunch of people to hold a trollface up over their own faces while I took a picture of them. Made a pretty interesting .GIF :p

I finally got around to uploading my generic time lapse of ice melting until now. Click the video to see how I did it.

Does anyone know how to avoid the differential lighting between shots? It would be great to minimize the amount of flickering in the video.

What's the guy doing in the background? If he's watching TV or something it may be TV lighting that's altering it. Or natural daylight shifting. Probably the best way to get even lighting is to use a lighting kit.

It's kinda cool btw that ice rotates as it melts :0000

That guy was me and I was on my computer. :)

I did this when it was partly cloudy out and when the sun was setting, and it was done relatively near a window. Maybe the settings I had the camera on were at fault. I know that I had compulsory flash on, same shutter speed, and I had it on manual focus, maybe I needed to set the camera on full manual, and have the white balance and exposure level the same for every shot.

But overall I am pleased with how that turned out. It was my first time lapse video, and I am surprised that I didn't accidentally bump the setup out of alignment.

You know, I like Vancouver ok. And I'm not a city person anyhow. But something that's always struck me about this city is how it has less of a sense of community than any place I've ever been. People just keep to their own insular groups. Vancouver's diversity is one of its greatest assets, but at the same time it can be a very lonely place.

Mr. Uglypants, you should head up to Capitol Hill (where I live), Burnaby Mountain, and Mt Seymour sometime to snap a few shots... much better views in those areas. :D
