i had it on 1600 for those, i just remembered that that is less detail not more heh

i think it's a rebel xt. and yeah, i live by the beach :)

Ah, that's a camera a bit older than mine, though you should still be able to get some better picture. When you're outside in that kind of light, just use an ISO of 100, and you should get much better quality, and working with the light should be easier too.

Your camera has built in software that will diminish your actual pixel resolution the higher you set your ISO to. There's probably an option to disable that in your settings somewhere, I have that option completely disabled. I'd rather have noise than no detail. Besides, noise can add nice texture to a photo but smoothed out pictures can't be saved by photoslop. :p

Really? Do you think that's on the 1000D aswell? I looked through the options a while back and didn't really run into anything like that.

The 1000D has an option for enabling/disabling NR. It's probably in a custom function menu.

*Edit looks like your NR does it slightly differently and is better than most cameras in that price range, you could probably leave yours on with minimal detail loss.

I just went into the custom menu and found that ISO NR thing, but it was already turned off. I have a feeling that I turned it off earlier myself though. Just couldn't remember it.
