Okay, evil terrorist foreigner question are the seat figures that CNN, MSNBC and (shudder) Fox News the Senate or the House of Congress seats?

I ask as everyone seems to be saying "KERRY'S WON!" but the figures on all those networks show that Bush had a 40 odd seat lead as of now.

Well, "seats" is not technically correct but it captures properly the spirit of the electoral vote. The votes are a compilation equal to the number of senators and representatives in congress.

Bush's lead is about 40 EV right now, and he will pick up most of flyover country (those big empty states in the middle), but California, Washington and Oregon are likely to go for Kerry and there's a lot of votes there.

Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania have a lot of these votes but none of them have enough data yet that the networks can comfortably project a winner. Over half the precincts in Florida have reported and they STILL are not calling it, while in other states, they called them very soon after the polls closed.

:edit: in the time it took me to type this, the chimp took Wyoming and Mississippi.

Zarkazm, I don't know how you got ahold of it, but ladies and gentlemen, that is in fact Kerry's big plan :D

Apparently the Dems are still counting votes in South Florida, but I don't see how they're going to make up a 300,000 vote margin.

Yeah, it looks like Bush has locked up Florida, assuming Kerry sweeps the west coast (no reason to think he won't) and all the other western states go to Bush as is expected, Kerry is pretty much going to have to take Ohio AND either Wisconsin, Michigan, New Mexico, or Hawaii, and all of those states are at least slightly tending towards Bush :(

Kerry just picked up his first state in like an hour. PA and its 21 votes (which isn't much of a surprise based on early returns).

Mr. Kerry must lose this election. The United States must continue down the path of rampant inequality, self destruction, and civil war in order for the European Union to take its rightful crown as true leader of the free world. Even if England doesn’t join the Union, we stand to gain much from a divided, fallen America that lacks the credibility to tell us what to do.

Keep your fingers crossed, mates!

I say if Americans are stupid enough to let this happen, then bring it on! There are 3 groups of people that will ruin this great country and that's the filthy rich, the religious right and the rednecks!

As an aside, I told my wife I wanted more bush but this is not what I meant. ;)

Up my ass
I'm disappointed, but i'm ready to face reality, George Bush is the president yet again.

I am however happy though that for Washington State, the two people I wanted for Govenor and Senate won.
