yeah, my website gets so much traffic Geocities keeps shutting it down. i would pay to have my own ".com" but it's kinda expensive. if i can get up some more maps and even textures i will try to get my site hosted at PU (that's a maybe), sorry about that man. I guess maybe try back in like an hour

I think the biggest problem when NC3 is up and running will be the quantity of review requests - the backlog now must be unbeleivable - it will be interesting to see just how long it will take to clear that lot up first - new maps in particular are going to take an age to get reviewed.

I agree, without question, that this is THE premier site for reviews and Community stuff and I appreciate from a personal point of view, the time and effort the reviewers have put in looking at my maps - it does mean a lot to me - I also tip my hat to the site co-ordinators for keeping this site going under difficult circumstances - However, the NC3 project is dragging along a bit now and something needs to happen soon before the whole thing turns into a Daikatana fiasco.

Don't see much of a problem here. The reviewers keep emphasizing they still produce reviews, just can't upload them.

So I expect a score of reviews with the start of NC3! :con:

I have 12 reviews done waiting to be posted. 8 requested, 4 "from the vault".
Since our move here none of us started a thread in the form of "request reviews here". In fact I haven't gotten a request to review a map in almost two months I think.
thus I (can't speak for other reviewers here) don't happen to have any "backlog" pending. I've done all (except one by luci I can't get my hands on yet) I was asked to do and others on top of that.
the problem will be that as soon as we're "go" again, we'll get 20+ requests a day for all the maps that have been continuously uploaded to our ftp, being maps a lot of peeps forget at times since they are still "invisible".
can I do 20+ reviews a day? of course not. I can do one a day on average.
as of what claw said, expecting a xillion reviews to be posted when we're "up" again:
that won't happen. at least with my reviews it won't happen. I'll post packs of four, as I've done in the past. followed by a couple of days of nothing, then another four, and so on, and so forth.
I recall back on PU when after a brief asp-caused break we had no reviews for two weeks, then 19 reviews on one day, followed by a "whopping" 7 reviews in the following two weeks. that was st00pid!

I for one am really missing reviewing. so much in fact that I have started reviewing old atariST games instead... :)

I have three of your maps: Brunel, Nouveaux and PsychoAsylum. Nice work!

Sorry for the spam.

I have 2 of those 3 above maps!

Anyway, can't wait for NC3. There is no way I can imagine it turning into a Daikatana fiasco. Also, I think DNF is trying to surpass the Daikatana fiasco! :)

That's quite interesting aactually 'cos I can clearly recall starting such a thread myself, directly after the move... I can even recall which maps I asked to be reviewed... CTF-DMUT-LostValley and some other Bot_40 maps (another cunning plan to pimp Dark Magic of course)

Not many replies though and now... it's gone. Prolly disappeared at BUmuda huh? So I'll bump it. Or rather, I'll move it from User Reviews to Reviewer Comments, which is prolly where it belongs.

I hope that's a joke. A pretty bad one too.
There's still enough "in the vault" to keep you reviewing 'till the end of your natural life, and every review on a new map you do now will be a review request you can just forget about later...

well the reason why we (I at least) didn't start any is that atm we wouldn't be able to get our hands on some map just like that. no, I don't have access to the maps we've got on wait. I'd have to contact the maps-guy(s), they'd have to search it out, they'd have to mail it to me (filesize limit on my inbox), then I'd review it, and most likely by the time I'd get to post it the author would complain "noooo! that's the version I sent you 13 weeks ago, you should have reviewed the no-kidding-now-final version from 9 weeks ago, or at least the final version from 11 weeks ago..................

well, I randomly d/l-ed 10 "from the vault". 1 didn't run. 5 were so horribly bad and/or boring that I had no fun at all, and thus only 4 ended up actually getting reviewed.
now, don't get this wrong: there is nothing wrong with reviewing a bad map if the review was requested and the map is new. but doing unrequested lengthy reviews on ancient maps that would end up scoring anywhere between 2.5 and 4.5 is a pretty pointless thing to do with my time.
and no, that wasn't a joke.

1. You could look up one of Bot_40's posts (look in the Spam thread) and klick on the link to his HP. d/l the map, newest version, and he doesn't seem inclined to update it despite my complaints.
Besides, the first map I suggested CTF-FinalFaceof][ is kinda oldish; he won't update it anymore. Make a new version, maybe, but not very likely.
And he's got a dozen maps uplodaed to NC, and only got two reviews, both a 7 although one is old and the newer is much better actually...

2.Doh. well, you could create a kind of standard review for maps saying "not worth the effort" - kinda harsh maybe, but so I'd know someone has seen the map. IF you just don't review it, I'll have to d/l it to get a clue on the contents. A few screenies and a short standard paragraph like "seen it, dumped it" or "deservedly forgotten" so we know what to tink without d/l a 3 mb map. No prob for me, but the scores are kinda... helpful. And there are so many maps without scores... A "reviewed and voted unworty" mark would kinda help finding our way in the chaos.

Please tell me that NC3 isn't using File Planet. I can live with it, but I'd prefer not to. Heck, the way you have map downloading now I thinks one of the best ways to go.
