Geeez, is it really that much of a problem that the dot is 7 pixels off or something? It still points where the bullets go, at least as far as I can tell. And if it does that it doesn't matter if INFGuy holds the gun upside down with his toes, you still know where you're shootin'.

Hey Beppo: I like the G36 very much, thankyou! ;)

The fact remains that he obviously did not know how a double lens aimpoint sight functioned. It has nothing to do with comparing the state in which he was aiming.

If the aim point causes this much problem for people can't wait until the one of the new sites come out. Bush had to use very small words for me to understand.

I was playing Infiltration with the bonus pack today and was trying out the G36K. My G36K sights are off, but in a different way... they appear to be too close to the screen. Most of the sight is being clipped. Is there any way to fix it? I assume that it is just a problem on my end.

No, it was about you trying to own someone on the forums.

Well ok then, but that doesn't change the fact that it shoots at the top of the
dot at 200M. Just went to the shooting range to test this. I aimed at the center
of the target, with point pretty much covering the entire target, and the bullet
hits about level with the targets head. In game, this would be a complete miss,
as INF guy is no where near as large as the target in the shooting range.

Even if it was centered there, in INF, one typically switches to the scope at
those ranges do to the small size. Again, the dot completely covers the target
at 200m+

you'll either have to use the 16bit d3d mode or switch to opengl. these clipping issues only happen with 32bit d3d. this is an issue with the other weapons as well, but obviously a rather large one for the g36.

Demo, chill out or go elsewhere to vent...

Aimpoint sights on 0-50m hit very accurate, on 100m aiming for the chest you hit slightly above (still an 8-9 from 10) . And on 200m the red dot covers the whole target... so one pixel up or down makes a huge difference. Sure it then aims a bit up too, but for 200m+ the scope should be your choice if you want to have some more 'pixels' to play around with.

The whole target is man height... sure the upper torso painted on it is not the same as Mr.INFs but the whole target itself is almost as high as an INF soldier. So, if you aim for the center then you aim for the torso of the player, if you aim for the head on the target, then you aim for the head on the INF soldier too. So your 'complete miss' would actually be a hit still.

Direct 3D isn't the issue since I am using the Mac OS X version of UT, which uses only Open GL. I tried switching to 16bit color anyway but that didn't work. Do any other Mac users with the OS X version have this problem?

The G36K badly needs a shoulder but unaimed mode. Basically just like hipped right now, but with the recoil of aimed and the stamina loss of aimed when jogging...

I really hope this "3rd aim mode" gets put in sometime, next version of INF or mutie or anything. It would help for any weapon with an acog, the sniper rifles, the famas, and the g36.

Kicks Derelan in the balls.

Kicks Derelan in the balls again because Shakken is around even more infrequently.

The G36K comes with the beer attachment, which forces the aiming to be somewhat off kilter. The solution is to get horribly drunk so it really doesn't matter anymore.

The main problem is, that this G36 sight is made exactly for CQB, in reallife it works, but not the current INF way. The question is, how the hell to make it CQB then? But yes the unaimed is needed.

I guess we discussed the unaimed position and that it is very similar to the standard 'hip' right now already.
Just think about it... would it really help you that the G36K would be positioned between its current aimed and its current hip position?
And I don't agree that the aimpoint sight is really made for CQB... an open sight is waaaay better for this type of situation. Just look at the G36C. It is more designed for CQB than the K version.

As much as I like the gun, I can't use it anymore because the offset for the red-dot hurts my eyes.

$5 to the person that centers everything and releases a mutator...

On a side note, I want the G36C badly.

Of course an open sight is better, and it can be easily attached to the G36K and G36.
The G36 sight is used with both eyes, that changes things. I also saw some photos and mostly the KSK and GSG9 used smaller reddot sights (thumbnail 1+2+3), or a reflex sight as the M4 in INF (4+5). But the standart military version is using the standart sight. Anyway in rl it works much better than in the game :(.

Shouldered weapon would not be a very needed option, but for complex sights it is.
I know in INF you have a hybrid of shouldered and hipped, but having a 'real hipped' and 'real shouldered' would be a difference, and shouldered would be much more usefull and effective than hipped.

I would love to see how both-eyes-open could be implemented on future versions, but that would of course ruin game balance.

But just imagine it, having both eyes open and running around with a blurry ghost famas... :D
