Duke and the Donkey of Troy...

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Okay, so can weapons like the m16a4, m4a1, akms, microuzi, and beretta m93r come back already? I REALLY miss them... how long does it take to delete a few lines of code....? You don't really need to have 6 different people doing it, do you?

A quick fix has been released to temporarely fix the weapons... it was released quite a few days ago. So don't start saying we're too slow...

Furthermore, it's a bit more complicated than deleting a few lines of code... especially if you do not want people blaming you on releasing code you did not test enough or with bugs afterwards

And we have a problem... nuff said.

So calm down and ask your favorite server admin to put the wp with the patch provided by crowze.

sry, after i posted i played a bit with some friends; it seems that INF Germany has enabled your temp fix, bringing back all the good weapons, not to mention lethal nades...

btw, we should create a get-together w/ a semi-old map theme going on .... I realized as I played a few INF Germany maps that I dearly miss them; namely ResearchSite, Siberia, Scramble2003, Chiller, Chasm, Peru, Installation2002 (although the latter two have been seen more often on servers)... the maps that people rarely play can easily be replaced by one or more of these (*cough* CargoUT, Train among others)

As for being able to see the code with unrealed ... That only goes for windows users ... People are still going to ask stupid questions and "suggest" they know better with or without code (just look at the suggestions forum). Well commented code is autoexplicative in my experience (if a link for a coding tutorial is provided).

As for Duke and Taque, they did make arses out of themselves (and the comunity for that matter) but they did do alot of work for inf ... I thought Taque was more mature than that ... oh well.

Well to be honest this thread has given me the same feeling as when code was defeated: that feeling that when this community acts like one it can do anything. Which surely is nice to think :)

I got kittie criminal which is just really annoying. Couldn't get the first one as the url has been removed.
I don't think .mp3 can be a virus but if it is then I still don't care. Don't care too much about my pc its health.

I have a very good idea, let's just forget about all this and let this thread disappear somewhere in the endless space of this forum.

Not much to say that haven't been said before already....I'm quite disgusted by all this...

I'd like to point out (due to the speculations in this thread by someone out of the loop..) that MP Clan (www.mpclan.com) has been dead for well over a year now and neither Duke nor Taque were in any leader position within the clan that was run by Da_Blade and Kaoh. If they used cheats in those days, I have no idea, atleast that never came up within MP Clan.

I wouldn't mind giving a "read-only" public access to my CVS for my projets. If that might pleases you.

Geo that would be cool!

Not that i have much time left to look at code, but knowing that I could if I were ever blessed with a boring Sunday afternoon (please, oh please!) makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!

Ps have you ever thought of opening a project on sourceforge ... all the infrastructure would be in place and free (http cvs browsing included).

just for info...
using UnrealED or ucc to extract the codes from the .u files doesn't help you to actually find 'real' hacks that were later removed from the .u packages.
UnrealED and ucc are only able to extract code that is still readable within the .u files. So if this stuff gets wiped out then you can only use other tools to decompile the code if you want to read the originals.
The only way to get a .u file 'clean' is to recompile it after checking the available codes. This way removed/hidden source lines from the .u file will really be removed 100% and the recompiled version will no longer include the hidden stuff for obvious reasons.

So, checking out .u files needs a neutral coder normally that is able to check the codes for hacks and to recompile the whole package... to make it 100% he would need access to the original models, textures, sounds and stuff alike if they were imported into the package you are about to recompile.

Cause normally this stuff is impractical you need to trust the coders to not abuse their position...

Actually a MP3 can't be a virus. There was a hoax in 1998 stating that there was a code in an mp3 that when you played the codec the virus acted and spreaded through the pc but this was only a HOAX and there can never be such a thing as a virus in a mp3, it's technically impossible.

the MP3 audio data, itself, may not be a virus itself, no. But there are ways of embedding viruses in files, and some software mp3 players have security holes in them that allow a malicious bit of information to cause harm to your computer.
