  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

If I get the 4 gigs of RAM that i want would i have to get Vista Premium...or would XP Pro recognize it?

Xp Pro 32-bit supports a maximum of 4GB of ram. But some of the address space is used by your hardware and the OS, so you'll never have access to the full 4 GB. If you want to use 4+ GB of Ram you need atleast XP 64-bit... but in that case you'll need to make sure your hardware supports it.

As far as windows 7... I've been hearing good things so we'll see. I have my MCP so I could probably be testing it as well, but meh. lol.

Ohio...that suck ass STATE.
I would do what Boney says. At least you won't be needing to add jumpers or what not to it. Or at least know that you might have to return some parts if they are defective. Come on STEEL! HURRY...I can't control myself anymore. I'll build the PC myself! ;)

My cousin is beta-testing 7 as we speak... I'll pass on info as I receive it.

My team at work Beta the OS and it's basically VISTA rebooted with some tweaks. So far it is faster but there are the stupid security crap again. Just remember to go and modify the GPs (Group Policies) or there is going to be issues. Make sure the UAC (User Access Control) is turned off.

Otherwise, it looks pretty good but I'm already waiting for SP1. LOL.

Vista Tweaked, I read its not the resource HOG VISTA is.. Heard it runs games much better.. May actually be a worth while upgrade..

And what gimmick are they going to use to sell this one? Can't use transparency again... that was Vista's...

Uh-oh, problems.

I powered the comp up, and it goes, ok, there's nothing to boot to (and that's ok). I inserted my Win XP install disc and it starts going, seems to do a few things all right, then I get a windows stop error 0x000007E - blue screen of death!

I'm stuck. What should I do?

Try installing windows with only the components you need to get the rig up and running; mobo, cpu, hdd, dvd, ram and video... after you have it installed, add extra hardware.
Also make sure you have gone into BIOS and enabled SATA drives. If you still have trouble loading windows, use your current HDD as the master and load from there.

I'm sure Morty, TAZ and Boney will have additional ideas... hang in there.

Oh, and read this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330182
