Stop trying to distract me.Hell even scare me with the last one you posted.
My dad said the world revolves around sex. I don't necessarily agree with him but it's definitely a good way to tone down any testosterone-fueled debates.
They will not use the ID because Jive Turkey,Mary Poppins, and Mickey Mouse could not vote then. It's too secure.
Ok. How about getting people to go to the local town hall to register for a vote and get an official document in return that can be presented on the day of the elections ?
QFT.However I just see it as you vote for socialism or capitalism -OR- traditional vs progressive.
All approaches suck imo. Something new is needed.
That's exactly what so many networks are trying to pull.Skew the facts and figures in hopes to get people to stay home.Propaganda machines.
Whatever happened to journalists that were happy with just presenting the facts ?
In an Obama presidency it's guaranteed imo. He's an open borders pro-illegal immigrant guy.
That was just sarcasm on my part. I'm just saying that there are people somewhere in this world that haven't received a lot of education, don't have alcool to burn their frustration away and are just itching to exercice their lack of tolerance on anyone that tells them that their acts are wrong.
Would socialism not do the same?
This was a reply to BBA but I'll say it depends on what you consider as socialism. If the idea to level the ground a bit so people have a better chance in life, what's wrong with that.
Debating whether a measure is capitalist or socialist is old hat since the cold war is over and neither capitalism or socialism are what they used to be fifty years ago.
On one hand, capitalism today is all about being the biggest gorilla on the block, slashing costs to maximize profits for shareholders, using employees as kleenex tissues and treating customers like dairy cows. On the other hand, socialism today is all about maintaining the illusion that everyone is cared for while using some of the money milked from the population for selfish purposes.
In short, both capitalism and socialism have the same caveats. Neither the government or the private sector can be entirely trusted when it comes to the interests of the average Joe. Both are a menace to the working population and both are in big need of regulation.
Minimum wage will go up,which will strain or kill small businesses depending on how much the increase is.Cost will just be passed to the consumer anyway.Welfare will increase and by rewarding laziness you will spread laziness. The wealthy will send their money elsewhere or just leave the country depending on how bad he hits them. That should help the economy.
The problem here is that a lot of international companies don't give a damn what wage their employees get. The cheaper it is, the better as long as investors are happy. However, for your basic employee the problem is that below a certain wage level, the cost of living starts to become a problemm. So you can't really leave a question like this to the private sector.
Perhaps minimum wage can be adapted according to the size of the business. Wouldn't that be more reasonsable ? Or maybe the state could intervene on the salary level as a form of loan while waiting for a business to expand.
If minimum wage isn't adapted properly, welfare will have to be applied anyway because beyond a certain point it's difficult to pay for things like a car, an accodomation and any costs associated with living and working. This means that a person that is working could be eventually forced to abandon a job. This is to be avoided.
As for the wealthy sending money elsewhere, this is already happening. The current trend is to place money in offshore banks to avoid taxes and maximize return on interests. From a business point of view I guess this is ok, but it's one less source of revenue which means that mister and misses average have to give more in taxes to support the cost of running a nation. And delocalization is also a reality because the labour costs are much higher in western countries than in developping ones.
Obama also says he will not pass slavery reparations which I believe to be a lie.He will,he will just camoflauge it.I do not want to pay for something I,my father,my grandfather, and his grandfather had nothing to do with. Not to mention no one alive today was a slave therefore should not receive anything.I think it's an excuse to get freebies.
Well, I'll agree that this is laughable. It's a bit like that web site asking the UK to compensate old colonies. None of the people that might have suffered are alive today. So why entertain old hates ?
Basically I believe:
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. However some people just DO NOT WANT TO LEARN TO FISH,even when you give them a cane pole.
I completely agree with this. Instead of putting people into dependancy and letting their brains rot away, the socialists here should with their propaganda and push people to have more initiative. Instead of giving things away for "free" (easy when it's not your money mister), they should explain how to get things. In the medium term, the more potential entrepreneurs you have, the more potential activity you should get. This in turn can only benefit an economy.
Social Justice-We are all created equal therefore I should have no less than my neighbor, regardless of who works more or has more skills.-A government babysitter.
They cannot even handle the responsibility they have now,and u guys want to give them power and work. What happens if things do not pan out the way you think?Do you think anyone will be held accountable for their lies or incompetency?Nope, but surely they will nicely paid regardless of their performance. That right there is part of the problem.
The truth is that we are all born unequal and have unequal lives. Don't you find it appealing that even the unluckiest of people could have a decent existence providing they put effort in ? I mean, most of us are both mentally and physically fit but there's no guarantee it will stay that way.
And when you at things now, both systems **** you over. With today's capitalism, keeping a job isn't easy and with today's socialism someone who's had it really bad will never find a job with high enough wages to play catch up.
As for representatives being nicely paid even if they **** up, that is a problem. It's again a question of accountability and responsability towards individuals. And I can only extend that comment to those CEOs that get a "golden parachute" when they get fired even if they've virtually led a company to bankruptcy. Anyone else would have just been fired and even fined.
