This seems to be the graphic driver dependant clipping of models which are near the camera position. Maybe an additional black layer/texture like the ordinary scopes uses them could help to avoid this.

Duke did u read my post? I wrote on the things missing for your gun. Also why does the gun have a bigger space to look in from on the sight then to look out from. Since you are not zooming it makes no sense, the sight is also very hard to makeout on light maps, try making it darker?

Yeah I noticed the FOV difference. That comes naturally when you shift view positions of the gun. I can retain the size by making a stronger zoom if you really want. I know it's supposed to be only a reddot sight, but I wanted to try it this way. The gun's bulk is somewhere between the M16 and the MP5. I just went on the statement that it's 80% the weight of an M4 (as you can see on the title of the thread "lightweight").

If one wants realisim, it's not hard to find. It's called "Investing in a NFA dealer's liscence". This, with a letter from the local chief law enforcement official will allow one to play and demo such Infil goodies as the FN 5-7, the FN MINIMI, the MP5, and the P-90.

I could go on, and list innumerable defects I find in the rendered firearms I play with in this game. But I won't. It's a game, a damn fun one at that. (And the ammo is cheap. FN wants over two bucks a shot for that 5.7X28 if you buy the APT!)

I spent a good deal of Monday, comparing and shooting a M249, versus the FN MINIMI (Yes, they are diffrent). You know, I did'nt once get to PLAY with em. In Infil I do. That suits me fine, thanks.

Come on! Go on and enlight us. (i don´t have idea about firearms, but more realism is always good, in truth is the best path to reach balance)

Don´t worry if you think that it could be an "insult" to Sentry Studios. Constructive Critics (bad spelling, surely. i am not english) exists. :D

Turin- Why? It's a game. If people keep picking the fly**** out of the pepper, potential real improvements, such as a larger armory will be delayed in a neverending quest for the perfect model.

But you wanted one? The 5-7 has much too slow a ROF, compared to the M9. As does the SOCOM. So what. I still play with the SOCOM.

Another would be the whole reloading animation. I NEVER take my eyes off the target, the weapon NEVER comes down. If you have to look at the mag to change it, find another career. Again, So What. I play this as a GAME.

I would rather have an armory where I can select from a reasonably good looking G3, M14, FAL (50.00 AND 50.63)Etc. , instead of one perfectly modelled M4.


Get it close, and looking about right.
Make sure it works.(NOT "perfect". Perfect does not exist in any real life weapon.)
Let us (Me) play with it, and we (I) will be happy.

I have ONE game on my computer. This is it.

In reality pretty much the whole weapons system is flawed. The bulk for all weapons for example is completely unrealistic compared to other ones. No one is asking for a perfect weapon duke. Just a balanced weapon, thats fun to play with and doesnt feel unrealistic. And the XM8 still needs work, if you are ahving trouble getting everything done im sure there are plenty of people willing to help.

It seems to me that the word "ballanced" and "realistic" do not fit very well in the same sentence...

Hurin, if you think the weapon system is pretty much flawed, what would you do to correct it? You state that bulk value are unrealistic. What bulk values (and please give your reasons for every value you give) would you put for all the weapons in INF? If you have any better idea, let us know... but don't just say it's totally fuct without giving any reasons or solutions!


Duke... I just tried the last verion of the XM8... it's looking very good now. Offline, when the NV is on and you move back to non-scoped mode, the green light turns off, but the green overlay stays. It give a very cool feeling to the whole NV and scope. Was this intentionnal ? ;)

that brings me to a few questions... maybe it could give you some ideas (or spark some answers from SS). You don't have to answer those... they are not ment to be answered :p

- Is it possible to create a light only visible client-side with 2.9
- In the unreal 1 engine, is it possible to create objects or actors only visible through a certain viewport or surface? What about a light?

This is called a beta for a reason.
But i must say Duke will work on this thing and get it near perfect and we will wait until the next engine to solve the unrealistic bulk, which if the team choose they can use the metric system.

Duke sugestion: would it be possible to go from irons and then change the system to the normal scope system. press key for set number of microsecods ;) and change system.
