If they are gonna continue to nerf the wall dodge just remove it altogether.Why do a wall dodge if there's no real extra height or distance to gain?I don't wanna hear the scale bit.The extra challenge and reward it offers outweigh scale imho.I am NOT saying 2k4 style,but now it's just worthless.Those moves are the very thing that attracted many to UT over the last 5 years and they pwn all other basic strafe and bunny hop style fps'.Leave the vanilla moves for console please.
What nerf? The dodge-jump may be gone, but the wall-dodge itself is more powerful, not less, than it was in 2k4. So much so, in fact, that if you time your movements properly, you're no less mobile in UT3 than it seemed you were in 2k4. No offense to anyone in particular, but this notion that you can't move freely in UT3 is mere fallacy from rigid 2k4ers who simply haven't learned the new game yet.

I think I have that debate about once a month on average. The majority feels UT3 is dumbed down and consolized, and that the movement and shieldgun in 2k3 added depth and "took more skill".
I'd call the shieldgun a safety blanket if anything. I was really happy to see it gone, and the game feels a lot more intimate with the new movement model. You can still do advanced jumps with the hammer and jump boots, which I'd wager takes more "skill" (even though I hate that word) than a simple jump-doublejump-walldodge.

Heh, so now the Pack really IS two weeks away. Who'da thunk it? I can't freaking wait for Suspence Necris! I always thought it was on the PC as well, but it turns out it was a 360 exclusive. Sweet. It also looks like "Patch 2.0" is included with it, or at least a little part of it. I await March 5th.



Still, why didn't they include the Skaarj!? They're the staple of Unreal!!

I am looking for is the 4 Warfare and 3 VCTF maps. These gametypes are the most played atm and also my favourites. 4 Warfare maps! Nice!

I'm also very interesting in the new deployables, the the X-Ray Field and the Link Station. Sounds cool!

I hope there is also a lot of new content and visuals with these maps and maybe some improvements to the editor.

Can't wait to be an Behemoths standing above enemys core! Good news :D

EXACTLY, wall dodges in UT3 are very handy to escape of some situations or to get or reach some far or difficult places :)

This patch with all this enhacements are gona be great, plus the split screen for the PS3 and other stuf equal like the PC wow, im gonna play again in the ps3 in the nights and as usual on the PC in the daylight WOHOOOOOOOOOOO!:D

I think you're overstating the interest in assault. What I think everyone would have been interested in is more assault like objectives being included in Warfare.. but including it as a gametype, if history is any indication, just wouldn't make as big a difference as you think.

I could swear I read multiple articles where someone at epic stated that everything you could ever want to do in an assault map can be done using the components available to you in a warfare. Am I just imagining this? I assumed they assumed the assault fans would use warfare and the other stuff to make their own assault styled maps.

But It would have been great if they took the initiative and recreated 2 or 3 of the more memorable assault maps themselves using warfare so the community to use them as the foundation for new maps.

I thought they might add a bit to the story mode, and have you fight malcolm... but oh well.

Titan sounds pretty cool. Not so sure about the gametypes... I'd have to agree with what many have already said here that they'll probably be fun initially, but inevitably people will just go back to the classics.

Yes yes you did read that, and they never followed through with that promise.

I agree with the part about creating some example maps. If it could be done it would have been stupid of them not to do it themselves and show us the possibilities.
 
I'm just happy Epic is even doing this at all. All the gameplay nitpicking aside, it sets a real precedence for any company to take a step back end finally realize "You know what we're going to need a fanbase in order to sell our next game..." and "man you know we really did want to finish that game more before the publisher forced us to kick it out the door, let's DO something about that."

Let's try and maybe save all the nit-picking for after the release and see what's what then? Just a thought. :D

I am extremely glad epic have made the effort to try and bring us back to the game but:

-Was hoping this titan pack would bring that old UT essence back..

-its good adding new things to the game: (characters/gametypes/weapons etc..) but why not stick to creating what IS unreal and what is missing in UT3 that was loved in ut2k4/ut99 , instead of adding so much new stuff that it becomes a completely different game ^^ (imo)

- where is malcolm? 0.o
-where is assault? >.<
-oddly i miss adrenaline aswell ^^

The only gripe with the game that this pack fixes is lack of content. There is still other stuff to be added that have been asked for various times:

1. Options for classic trajectories on flak and rocket launcher grenades

4. Bots are thinking 20% faster then they should be due to the default 120% gamespeed on the PC version. I love the gamespeed, but i don't like bots that are thinking 20% faster then they should because of that gamespeed.

5. The god damn war. Can't they just retcon the bitch and move on to a tournament already?
6. Tournament mode/ ladder. Soemthing that makes this a tournament.


The list goes on.

Awesome info, I was kinda hoping for a bit more new non-map content, but what we're getting is plenty for the price of free-99. I can't wait to try out Greed, and Betrayal sounds interesting, but instagib-only might be a too much for me.

And what is this Stinger turret? Is it for use in Warfare only?

No, assault isn't possible unless someone writes code for the gametype and AI. Too many missing pieces, and it's just not possible in restrictions of kismet
(timer, scoring, respawning teams after objectives.. bots understanding objectives (let alone anything :lol:) etc..)

Also it would be overly complicated without specific new kismet nodes to take care of some actions/events more neatly anyway.

Plus I agree, if they think it's possible they should have provided at least 1 map, to show how they say it can be done..

Epic is sure making a good effort to please the fans.
However like a lot of things no matter what you do you just can't please everybody.

I'm pretty content with most what I'm seeing. Yeah there are still things to nitpick about like I was expecting at least another character (two new characters don't sound too Titan err Epic to me)
I love how they avoided using alpha maps for Kana's hair. Just like every other character in UT3. The reason they can't is just unacceptable.:mad: The model still looks good though haha.;)
