UT3 Servers down worldwide?

He just released another one that causes the server to run out of virtual memory and it's already being put to use.

Great, more crap to look after :mad:

According to hack author, most unreal engine based games.

Look out for this in your server log:

----
Critical: Ran out of virtual memory. To prevent this condition, you must free up more space on your primary hard disk.
Critical: Windows GetLastError: The parameter is incorrect. (87)
Log: === Critical error: ===
Ran out of virtual memory. To prevent this condition, you must free up more space on your primary hard disk.
----

Just dandy eh?

I know there were a couple of post at Epic that they are aware of the problem. They seem to be gone now. LOL Does anyone know where or when they will post a fix? This is really screwing up a tourney I am trying to run, and I am sure others are just as upset about this as well.
I wish there was a way to go after these people. They have made my server which costs me money unstable. Thank you again idiots for punishing the players

Before taking petty crack shots on my display name why don't you learn who Akira Kurosawa is you illiterate moron.
Nor did I say I encourage the use of the exploits. I encourage the release of them, their use is of no concern for it forces epics hand in the situation.

@elmuerte, thanks for the info.

Back then Luigi worked like most security researchers do: give the vendor heads up and time to fix it before making the information public.

If he let them know first, It's all good - he gave them a heads up, they did nothing, now I simply laugh at Epic. It serves them right for being ignorant/lazy.

See how many companies want to use your engine when you ignore exploits like this... :lol: fail.

Agreed. These bugs have a major impact on the game's servers. If it wasn't for this release, someone else might have found it eventually. And if he kept it to himself, then you would be wondering why your server crashes so much.

Anyway, this is a bug Epic will have to fix. If not, they sentence the game to its death.

yeah the dope(s) that put this out there without informing Epic (or even if they did and then released they still suck) are the ones to blame, they are causing problems for players and admins...

BUT. it would be nice to see a sticky in the Admin forum at Epic saying they are aware of a "server crash issue" and they are working on it. i understand if they dont want info about the exploit posted on their own board, but pls acknowledge its gonna be fixed ... and soon. thx

Yay a couple people are seeing the positive side of these events.
@UnrealGrrl, they are locking at deleting posts on it. Flak said something along the lines
of "We are aware of it, and are working on it." *locked thread.*

This is a server admin issue and as such we're working directly with those who can do something about it. In my opinion, publically discussing this issue accomplishes nothing except promoting it's existence, possibly to the delight of those using it to crash servers.

Thanks for the heads up. It is very welcomed
