As said before, the main focus of INF will stay on the Infantry battle. Vehicles will only be used in infantry support roles, such as transports. The Kiowa was 'just' a chopper we wanted to test out and it can be used as recon craft or whatever to support the infantry. M113 and Fuchs are 100% APCs (Armored Personnel Carriers) that only have a MG mounted for a gunner. A HMMWV can be a Pickup version, have a MG or even an Avenger system mounted. Stuff like that.
To the Kiowa... unfortunately the chopper vehicle class of UT2k4 is not really that realistic cause the applied forces are not applied depending on the rotors main axis rotation at all. They are always using the worlds up axis for up and down for example... not the rotors axis as they should. Stuff you can get around but you need to do the forces calcs all by yourself then and this means that you can almost script the whole chopper physics yourself to avoid the engine codes working against the script codes. So the standard chopper engine codes within UT2k4 are not designed for a realistic chopper flight model unfortunately.
To the character stuff...
again, just a short info before you guys start to develop your own ideas on how we are doing things without knowing what we actually do and how
Ok, what I want to tell right now is only the basics... no details.
We will not have a 'Select your branch of service' (Army, Navy, AirForce) but we will have a 'Select your 'special' team' where team is defined by the type of included individuals. So you can name it some sort of class system but you do not select your one player type, you select a group.
Without spoiling any further details I can say that you will be able to play ie a 2 vs 2 match with a bunch of folks running around on the map then... not only the 4 guys that would normally be there. But now I really stop to give out infos, even if you guys make your own thoughts out of this again
