UT2004 - NoCD Patch!

It's likely that if you wanna play UT2004 once installed then your gonna need the DVD/CD in due to piracy protection.

Then comes the "NoCD" patches which kind of throws all this out the window.

I know the last patch for UT2003 included it's own NoCD Patch but I very much doubt that Epic will be giving us one straight away with the new game.

But should they?
Heck! Most will use the unoffical NoCD patches anyway.

I will use one, i always to. having to use the cd in the drive is nothing but annoying....

There are even retail products that allow you to fake it, that you can buy in the stores.

IMO they should ditch the cd protection thing, for playing anyway, cdkey for online is good enough, nothing will stop piracy for SP.

Exactly, I think it's was a good thing Epic did with UT2003.

Yes, but Atari (at that point still Infogrames) saw their revenue under attack when Epic even thought about removing the cd protection. I don't think it'll be different this time.

I remember when games loaded and you'd be given a page number and you'd have to use the right code from that page of the manual! Or you'd get a string of page numbers and have to put a code in like that!*Shrugs!* I've never bothered getting NOCD patches! *Cough!* (Unless i'm using the same game to play lan!) *Cough!*

It's nice when epic releases NOCD patches with their usual patches it's convenient i admit! But mostly selecting a cd from my library of games and placing it in thedrive hasn't been a problem for me! Not being lazy and being a fairly patient person lik ei am! Heh heh heh!

My DVD-drive makes a funny noise when there's a CD/DVD in it. So I hope there won't be any NoCD protection.

From what I notice, at release time, all the Unreal®/Unreal® Tournament games required the CD to be in the drive when starting the game. Eventually, one of the patches Epic releases will no longer require the CD. It looks like it is mostly to prevent early copying/piracy of the game.

If you never patch your UT2k3 to version 2225 and leave it with the version that came on the CD, you will need the CD in the drive to start the program.

there are clean places to find cracks from "cracking teams" that don't screw with things on your computer. Such as Deviance and some others.

I think he means things like VirtualDrive or GameDrive (www.farstone.com). They require you copy an image of the CD/DVD to your hard drive, but they can compress that image.

Except that an aimbot affects other players while a No-CD crack is a completely personal decision that only affects you (and only morally at that).
