    Now to provide more answers...

I play INF because I like it. I downloaded 2.75 and decided that I liked it so I got 2.86. I am not aiming for realism: I just want to have fun with this mod. I am a gamer: I am not a soldier and I never will be. So if the fact that I play this mod in this way offends you, that's your problem. I can play it however I want to. No this is not CS i'm sure everyone knows that. CS doesn't have as much realism in it (yet in that game I can stick with 2 weapons). I don't play this online, so you can stop worrying about me having too many weapons. All the bots I play with start with the same loadout, so that the game is fair (look, another reason not to have the penalty system). Yes I know that you can't carry a lot of SMGs in RL (well you could but you wouldn't be able to move). And if this mod was specifically created for soldiers, why didn't anyone tell me? Also, I like playing with RL weapons. Nothing beats fun like shooting the breeze (and the bots) with the AKMSU. And INF Lite doesn't work for me. The realism doesn't bother me at all. This mod has a ton of good features that plain old UT doesn't have. And let me say again, I LIKE THE WEAPONS. DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN THEM. And how do my rounds play out? well I play Assault AS-Overlord and switch between my weapons. And did it ever occur to you that I can get rid of my excess weapons? I do it sometimes when I want the AKMSU but have to scroll through 2 other guns to get to it. And do you want to see an unrealistic loadout? well, here's one: M9, MP5, HK69, M-16
if this is a simulation of infantry combat, then why is the HK69 even there? (we are talking about INFANTRY, not ARTILLERY). ok there I explained myself again. Let me say again that I can play this however I want. If I do decide to stick with the "soldier's rules of playing this mod" then good for all of you. And just remeber that if you are looking for realism from this mod, you're not gonna get it. And let me ask you guys something: If you want realism, why did you buy UT instead of Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear? That game is even more realistic than this mod.

IRL, you dont lose points for taking the wrong gun to the wrong war ;)

Im two seconds from suggesting we screw the whole idea of points to start with.
staying alive is the reward of a good round. being dead is the penalty for screwing up.
scoreboards are for cs IMO :p

dunno if this has been suggested before:
how about we think over a "hardpoints" system.
so you can only take as many guns as you have places to stick them.

you got one thigh holdster (sidearm spot)
    two shoulders(to sling ar's/smg's/gl's over)
a belt (should allow for one aux weapon like grenades, rg's, explosives or whatever)
    one spot for your knive/machett
(your hands dont count as a hardpoint)
tally up bulk and expense as normal and get on with the game.

side rant: lets get off this rockstar mentality.
I dont care how many kills you score or how many points you have. what I do care about, is if your watching my flank so I can ALSO survive the round.

Ok RAZZ, say somebody on the team is the "kamikaze guy" (you know, the one with the knife who tries to kill the opposing team without dying). That guy can distract the other team while the rest of his team strikes. And if you are a Sniper (I assume that is why you want cover) you can get some backup. It isn't a good strategy, but it might work. never tested it myself (just try using advanced tactics while playing w/ bots)

dude, have you ever played rogue spear?
I played it with my team on and off for 2 years.

graphics are sub par, levels are limited, online gameplay is impossible on high ping, and you cant even see the gun your using.
and try hooking up for a game on saturday night if no one you know is online. damn near impossible.
(ever try using zone with a ping dependant game?)

fyi, rs isint about infantry combat. its about swat style cqb.
grenade launchers and snipers are a part of life in "the big world" :p

unlike many other games, inf is actually going somewhere.
its far more realistic than when I first installed it, and gets better every update.

when you run off on your own with no comm, you subtract one able bodied player from your sides total force.

assuming you dont get pinned down, outnumbered, and flanked. you might accidentally shoot one of your mates or get shot by a newb whos already jumpy from being abandoned.

understandably, communication is the biggest problem facing inf and online games as a whole.
but thats no exceuse to leave good hardware behind for a point total.

The goal is to have your entire team survive, not intentionally get them killed just so you can look good.

Ugh.....RS is S.W.A.T. and Terrorist. INF is far from that.

If you are not aiming for realism, well to bad, because you found something that is trying very hard to. You know why most of us play this MOD? It is because we want to have fun to! Oh my gosh! We also want to have a military feel of actual combat. Hence the purpose of this MOD is to be real.

The HK69 grenade launcher is an infantry weapon. It can be used against harden targets or for taking out a squad of infantry. That is why it is in INF. For your other loadout there, pfft, it is just pathetic.

Did it ever occur to you that you can make other loadouts with just those weapons?! How hard is it to click a mouse button a few times huh?

You are displaying the typical CSer mentality the INF community is getting more and more of each day. Frankly, I do not like it and the majority of the people here don't like it either.

If you weren't aiming for realism in the first place, why did you even bother downloading INF? Another thing, if all you wanted was realistic guns, you are better off playing CS or TO for your style of play.

it offends *some* ppl more than it does others. Did you really think that everyone that plays inf because of the realism is going to ignore someone who openly states that he doesn't even want to try to play somewhat 'realistic' ?
Complaining about 'too much realism' in Inf is like trying to order a 'Big Mac' in a real 5-star restaurant : altough they might be able to give you a 'burger, it won't be the same ...

Why is that no problem for you in CS ?
Or is the fact that that mod restricts the number of weapons you can carry that you've learned to live with those artificial limits ?

if everyone has the same loadout, then everyone would have the same penalty ... so it will not matter anymore how many 'points' you lost. Besides like Razz said, we managed to kill the points for 'realistic loadout' idea within minutes after I posted it. Altough there is still one question remaining :
"What is an acceptable realistic loadout for Inf ?"

it might not have been 'specifically created for soldiers', but its very goal (from 2.80) has been to provide ppl with as much realisme as possible.

    If Inf-lite doesn't work, look here :
    http://forums.planetunreal.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81099

Once every gun in the armory is in game you *will* have to choose between them. The fact that you've got a limited budget to 'buy' your loadout with already forces you to make some choices. And since the ultimate goal is realism, don't expect this to get any easier.

Like the machinegun in the next patch it has it's place in an infantrysquad as a *support* weapon.

if you're thinking that they're going to stop trying, think again ;)

    - the unrealism in UT is fun, but the realism in Inf is fun too...
    - Rainbow Six is 'SWAT' not infantry/military
    - Delta Force, Ghost Recon & Operation Flashpoint are better comparisons. Unfortunately they are new or not as much fun as Inf. :p

Infiltration has real open sights rather than a crosshair.
    Infiltration has the prone position.
Infiltration has a more open ended and versitile loadout system.
    Infiltration has ballistics.

seriously, there should be no limits for the number of weapons you can carry, but "penalties" on speed agility, reload time and switching times

    lets all stop now

Alright. You know what? I am tired about all this controversey on how I play INF and my loadout, and I am sure all of you are too. So why don't we let it go?

asmodeus has a point there. INF should be able to be enjoyed be everyone. Not just the realism crowd. (I am referring to the 'no limit to weaponsyou can carry' comment)
