...someone. (7:30 AM EDT, 7:30 PM local Singapore, 12:30 PM GMT).

It'd be interesting to see NYC get it but it's unlikely due to a recent American Olympiad, as well as Madrid for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Moscow, who would be using 32 year old venues instead of new stuff which Paris and London would be offering, seems another unlikely candidate. So it comes down to Paris and London, and my understanding is that London's local businesses don't want new construction. However, Jacques Chirac dissed Britain's cuisine, so they probably don't deserve it. ;)

I'm not that interested in it, but anything that wipes that smug ****ing smile off Chirac's face has got to be good...so please, anywhere except Paris (although, apparently they are clear favourite...bugger)

Paris has the better facilities I think, just a few more seconds till we know
Besides, Blair is just as big an ass as Chirac....

Actually the Paris bid included building the Olympic village right NEXT to an active freight train line.. It's current facilities will be coming onto 30 years old come 2012.

So yeah, the best country/city won Chirac, we did, unlucky :D

I don't know about the other cities, but I don't even know how NYC got so far. The damn city couldn't even deal with it. Those Manhattan sallies wouldn't have a stadium ruin their Sex and the City illusion. I doubt they'll get the next bid either (it will most likely be over on the Americas or Asia because Europe got this one). I'd like to see some West Coast city make a push...maybe...SF?!?!?! (Pipe dreams, I know). But please...not NY. Nobody cares about them.

It's really an American pastime.

actually it's Roland Emmerichs personal Jihad against hollywood... see Independance day, godzilla or that godawful movie where emmerich tries to grasp environmental problems... add to that the many american movies depicting a collapsed NYC( Pliskin!)

btw. you can read this post as part of my personal Jihad against Roland Emmerrich and his crappy movies.

lol that really made my day :D

It's a bit sad for Paris though because they had already lost for the 2008 games. They'll try again in 2016 and lose again I guess :hmm:
