So... maybe I missed something, but what does Chirac have to do with Paris' bid for Olympics? Other than being the current French president and former mayor of Paris, both having absolutely no relevance to the 2012 Olympics.

I wonder when/if Istanbul's going to get them. I still have a keychain for "Istanbul Olympics 2000" that was made in 1991 or 1992. We even made a stadium for it :mad:

Actually, he does have something to do with it:
he personally backed the bid on behalf of all the french people (a majority of the french was in favor of the bid)
he also was in the promotion video for Paris shown on the meeting in Singapore

Ha, I didn't even know Beijing had it 2008. Then the Americas have to get in 2012. Still hope it isn't NYC.
