Well if you have the rosscreek one in 1024 or higher (and other pictures in the same style also) that'd be cool. I sometimes use your pics for wallpapers ;).

Took this picture on my way to work this morning. It's a view from a bridge on one end of the train station of a city I live close to. Blurry, but I liked the lighting.

Really like those pics dm, esp rosscreek. What's the exposure lenght on that btw?
Mmmm I'll have to take some more pics when I go up north (my mom's got a new 3.2MP which might make for some interesting shots.) I wonder if the hasselblad is still working...

PS I've found that not letting the moron ahead of you turn the brightness and contrast up to 100% helps when viewing pictures on an LCD :D (stupid school computers)

And some more.

This is the very first time in my life that I have had a camera, so I am very open to suggestions on how to suck less. Please, you who are good at this, please let me know what you think I can improve. Thanks.

How did you get that 'light' effect on that ring (4th picture of your first post) ?

This link : http://www.irphotoschool.com/ should help with the basics I think.
Altough I think taking great pictures is a matter of experience ... so practice and don't be afraid to experiment. That's what makes digital cameras so great as playing with different settings doesn't cost anything (except batteries).

Approx the biggest thing is take lots of pictures, and I don't mean shooting almost random like. See something interesting shoot it. Try different angles, different speeds, mess with the depth of field.

Also shoot things that are interesting and see what can be done to make the interesting. Extreme close up, light the foreground and over expose by a stop.

This is a good place to look and ask questions: http://www.fredmiranda.com/

Good forums.

For me I usually photograph horses at western game shows. Took me about a year to get good enough and I am still learning. Still a hit and miss at times but if the rider and horse is doing what they are supposed to be doing I'll get them 95% of the time. Selling about 30 prints a year pays for the paper and ink. I shoot lots though.

Also find people who photography you find interesting and figure out why you find it interesting. What are you doing. What don't you like. Also do exactly what Jafo did, he saw something you did that he liked and asked how the hell you did it.

I probably should post something I have done one of these days.
