I wanted to add captions but can't think of a good one.

My destination for this weekend's Super Awesome Rachel Adventure was Salt Creek Falls, about 45 miles past Dexter.

Bridge leading off into the snow, I couldn't follow the trail much past the end. Yeah, this bridge is totally safe.

The top of the falls:

The trail along the cliff overlooking the falls:

Further along the trail (you can see the end of the path down at the bottom):

And the money shot, stitched together from two pics at the bottom of the trail (you can see the cliff path at the top of the pic):

Ironically, they were asking for directions because they couldn't find the waterfall:

Awesome photos Rachel :)

I visited a waterfall yesterday, not quite as big but spectacular nonetheless. It's like a huge granite bowl carved out by the water, the only way in is a small rock arch where the water flows out at one end. It's been dry recently so the waterfall is reduced to a trickle, and there is only a little water in the basin - last time I went there it was above my knees. You can climb up the side of the waterfall and wade up stream too.

Photography is a little tricky, as it's dark inside the bowl shaped part, the rock and trees overhang, so it's easy to over / underexpose parts of the shot. Setting up the tripod was fairly easy though, no currents to knock it over.

Oh wow, that's awesome! I love the top two. \o/

Super Awesome Rachel Adventure VII: Odell Butte

About fifteen miles past Salt Creek Falls, my previous adventure. Five miles off the main road to the gate, then another mile on foot, and you can almost touch the sky.

Today, I went to the top of the freaking world.

I wonder why I was getting 4 bars up there? :B

This time, I managed to get a few people from work to go with me. Interestingly, it was only people that started within the past month or two that wanted to go. Friggin lazy old timers.

From left to right: Walker, Jamie, Me, Jess, and his girlfriend Amy.

2192 feet above the surrounding area, 7032 feet above sea level.

360 degree panorama from the top coming soon.

I saw the exact same thing near a transmitter we went to, and thought how can so many padlocks possibly make it more secure? Apparently there is one for each company who has access, and they each have a seperate key. Must be a bugger to find the right lock.

Photoshoot I did today just for kicks.
3 different lighting set ups used, I only remembered to do a set up shot after the shoot was over.

This one is great. Usually when I try to get photos of food it ends up looking a bit unappetizing.

Your sure it's not because the chain simply wasn't long enough on it's own?
Pretty sure, they would have just attached another length of chain otherwise :p

Some shots of lighting in the city at around 1 - 2am:

Wow, so do you rent out a studio or...? Awesometastic lighting.

I work at a college where It is my job to know just about everything about the equipment we have so I can comfortably answer any questions students may have. We recently received a bunch of new photo lighting gear. In the interest of education I get to play with the gear until I know it well enough to teach it. ;)
