I do that for a reason. You wouldn't believe what people will steal, sell, and then some other tard will buy. Another Flickr friend ran into this problem, so I keep them that way.

That's what watermarks are for. You can do it digitally or you can put it on the image. Either way it is clearly obvious who made the image. Little extra work to make it into an action in photoshop. My action resizes, sharpens, slaps that water mark on, and prompts me for my jpg saving preferences.

somewhere; sometime?
You know, I should post a thread about my life right now because it's incredible...

I love to hear about what other young guys are doing professionally, especially when it's abroad since I am studying to work in foreign policy with a focus on Asian society. So I would say go for it.
But be forewarned that lately, when someone tries to make one of these honest, "a glimpse into my life" threads, they get torn to pieces with sarcastic, meme-laden commentary.

If you want to share a story with us about your life, don't make a new thread. Just do it here in this thread where people who actually care to listen will get the most out of it. You can also share more pics and keep it all relevant.

I finally got to do an HDR portrait. Does it look HDR... not really, but it does add a ghostly 1950's film feel to each photo which I have been unable to achieve otherwise.

These first two shots where done of a local band we shot last Thursday. The first shot is HDR. The second shot is not HDR. The last photo was from an old shoot. I recently went back and reedited the shot for my biz card. I like it so much I think I'll get it printed for my next gallery show.

I drove out of town to the Red Rock area today. Shot quite a few images, but most turned out to be very dull and boring. I still have a long ways to go but I'm not giving up.

LOL, they are still life shots which are usually always boring. Early morning or late afternoon makes them more interesting. These shots aren't all that bad. The mountain formations are very interesting.

I'd love to see one of your raw files of these, just to see what I can do with a good landscape shot. Curiosity if nothing else.

I had some fun with your photo. Even though the shot was clearly underexposed, the raw file allowed for a 2 stop increase without any harsh degradation in image quality. The 12bit image file reminds me of the Nikon D300 raw files. Much better than the 20d/30d raw files for exposure compensation. First time working with Sony Alpha files and I'm impressed with that aspect of it. I used a variety of techniques to enhance the image. I had a lot of fun. Thanks!

Night shot of a house in a village, 120km from Moscow. Actually the whole village has just 3 working lights and the closes was quite far, so this was made using tripod. Exposure - 30 seconds (max for my 450D), F number - 4.5, ISO 400. House was barely visible and I had no flashlight, so getting the right focus was tough. I also thought the house to be abandoned as a few of the other houses in the village are, but later in the morning I found it it just has modern glass units instead of more traditional windows. Will post some more from that trip later.

I wouldn't say I'm a "young professional working in Japan".

The thread would be more along the line of "Ask me about dating a married japanese woman"

Very nice edit! Looks like I need to back off on contrast and bring up the exposure on mine, amongst other things.

I might be mistaken but the dark parts of the picture seem to be suffering from the blue-black static that is the bane of digital photography. Is there a way to avoid that effect ?

Do you have a crop example?

The noise is all over the original picture but look at the mountains in the background for example. This may be due to fog, distance or artifacts introduced by JPEG compression.

Here's some examples where "digital" noise clearly shows. It's a similar effect to what you get with security cameras. Depending on the device, it either shows up as dark spots only or mixed in with blue spots here and there. It's not something that happens with analogue film. Maybe this is due to using cheaper cameras or the relative position of light sources.

Counter example from the same source. Has it been edited or is this due to the position of the camera ?

Nice pics Slain.

I went out shooting again this morning. Still working on getting down the settings. Seems to be a futile effort, lol.

This shot was taken early in the morning, about an hour and half after sunrise. Tried a cheap man's HDR technique, as I only had a few shots that were not total crap. Heck, even these shots were quite noisy.

Nice shots, Slain. Is there a lot of graffitti in Sheffield? Have you seen any by Banksy?

Oh.
So you're just helping some bimbo cheat on her hubby? That's cool. Still probably makes for a good story.

Just don't get your ass kicked if you get caught. Unless the hubby is a little bitch, which might be why she's cheating with you to begin with.
