Actually I love shooting weddings. I have 5 of them booked already. The last moment clients are rolling in so more will be on the way. The money is good but I work with another photographer. $$ is split so its not nearly as profitable as you may think. The economy isn't helping either. We do a hell of a job though! It takes time to build a reputation. Advertising helps but its hard without an advertising budget or investors.

I opened up the XTI on a hunch. It looks like I will be able to replace the LCD with out an issue. The plastic screen that protects it is another story. It looks like the clear screen is part of the back of the camera. The whole back end of the camera will need to be replaced. (just the plastic part) I'm going to call canon and see if i can order the part. The plastic seems as cheap as any toy out there. Lets hope they don't want to charge me $50 for a chunk of plastic.

I suck at taking pictures of people because I am too slow. Also, I don't want to take pictures of people I am not interested in.:p I am guessing right now is the slow season for weddings too.

That sucks, I bet they will screw you on the price of it. Do you think you could find another XTI that is broken on ebay and take the back off it?

I like taking pictures of cute, pretty, beautiful and lively women. I also enjoy taking shots of hunks or guys with an obvious chiseled look. Its fun to do because there really are so few women or guys who look this way. In reality usual clients need to see what you can do to a pretty person before they take you on for hire. If you cant make a pretty girl look even more beautiful then what good are you? LOL

For 85% of my photography non of the above really isnt all that important. For dance, theater, horse shows, it is more about the art and form. Most of the people I work with are some seriously talented people!

You are correct sir! I have to be interested in the subject matter to want to take photos. I like people, their emotions, and I can appreciate different looks. I find people easy to work with and direct. I do not like taking landscape photos. Its boring for me there is very little control over your subjects. The emotion you feel from a shot is dependent upon where the sun is in the sky. I can appreciate landscapes but woo! I really hate taking landscape photos. :)

Right now there are very few weddings. In Oregon people only want to do weddings during the spring and summer. Fall and winter weddings are rare. People are trying to get the best deals right now and they aren't thinking about the photographers skill and portfolio as much as how much they are paying.

1. Hopefully you only do this once in life.
2. You will spend a lot of money on food, venue, dress, limo, flowers, music and other fun wedding necessities. The only thing that will last will be the photos.
3. The photos should be one of the most important wedding investments you make. If you spend $2k for you venue, you should spend the same for your photographer.

Molgan: Love the 2nd shot!

Taken on an old (80year old) stadium that is scheduled for reconstruction into a modern soccer stadium later this year. Actually this is the oldest stadium in Moscow.
