Worst game wins?

I take it that the Haunted guys don't visit this site. Or at least they don't anymore. :D

If the award were to be given for most original game, then it would have to go to the Ball, but I think Haunted has more potential as an actual game, that people would keep playing.

Me and the others are still visiting BU. :)

Haunted never intended to win a prize in innovation. 'Don't reinvent the wheel, but know how to turn it' was the formular and it worked out well.

Thanks again Epic and congrats to all other winners!

I run lan parties in New Zealand, and a few of the guys have recently discovered The Haunted and are loving it. Good work guys.

And it's true. No one really cares about innovation and originality in the video games. It's really about using strong game mechanics and using them well.

Most of the top selling games are really refinements of game mechanics, more than trying to introduce compelling new innovative game play.

Actually, I believe it was Cursor*10 that was part of the research leading to Prometheus. (I really want to use the pun 'pre-cursor') But, I too think you'd have a hard time drawing a clean parallel to these other games without bending space. Angel_Mapper deserves more credit than that.

I'd say Prometheus has more in common with Braid than Portal, but alright.

I'm pretty surprised The Ball didn't win first, but I understand that The Haunted has a more viable, tested premise while some of the other choices were trying to do something a little more uncommon. So congrats to all the winners. I'm sure certain project teams on that list are good enough to go commercial with or without the first prize. Always a lot of talent in this community.

The Ball and Prometheus are already on UDK. Wouldn't make much sense for them to win at this point. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Epic is giving them a deal on royalties to be UDK showcase games, which would be a smart move for all parties involved.

Winning $40'000 is getting owned?

Look at that kid's other posts and you understand his (lack of) mind.

Congrats to all the winners. And good work.
