No disrespect for the haunted team, the mod is friggin' excellent, but I feel it and the ball should have switched placings. Congrats to all the winners though, they all deserved it.

Honestly, I've played those games and the Ball felt to me the most enjoyable (gameplay-wise and visuals) & polished. I also feel that The Ball deserved the first place and The Haunted the second. However, I had a lot of expectations for that MSUC and I thought we would see new very cool and innovative games in the same vibes as Counter-Strike, Halo, Battlefield 2142, UT3 or Quake III types of games. Too bad lol... maybe another year, so I guess I'll rather spend my time on Bad Company 2.

Owned seems kind of harsh, for a person and team that have done a lot of hard work. Okay so the Ball did not win the grand prize, but seriously just standing on the sidelines saying "owned" is a dick move.

Contests always have winners and runner ups and honestly I think everyone deserves around of applause from the community for doing the best they did for creating such awesome content across all the maps, mods, and mutators made to keep the UT community active with such creative content and showcasing their game development skills whether they won, got a finalist or honorable mention nomination or just gave the effort to try and compete in a very competitive contest.

The Ball is already doing fine on UDK and will probably be released on there.

I sure am glad that I wasn't one of the judges in a contest like this, because no matter what you chose someone (or a fan) is going to feel like they were more deserving than the winner(s).

And consider the price (engine-license) that was to be won and the fact that getting a UDK-license isn't as expensive (and quite cheap compared to a lot of the tools required to build software on a professional level) but potentially just as good especially for mods that were build within the constrictions posed by UT3.
As such all of the grandprize winners have the same options to go for the commercial-route with their game(s).
The only difference is that the #1 gets a bit more help along the way.
That is a double-edged sword as it will add even more pressure on the team to deliver something worthy. Just ask the team behind the grandprize winners of the UT2kx MSUC ...

So if you think your favourite team has more potential ... then why not help them achieve it ?
It's real easy to sit here and post stuff like "team X got owned" or "I hates the winnarz".
Actually doing something useful for your favourite team/mod isn't easy, but it is a whole lot more satisfying if you do prove your supposed 'superiority' with real results.

Congrats to all the winners, and I'm really looking forward to what the Ball and the Promotheus have in store for us next.

Contest isn't getting much publicity...
Only Joystick picked it up so far. Guess it ain't sensational enough.

Epic has given all of the mod teams a great opportunity with the UDK, and we're definitely going to be releasing Prometheus commercially. Congrats to all the winners, and I hope to see a lot of teams taking advantage of the UDK!
